Today’s photo comes from a 2006 trip to China.
Jojo was 18-months-old and seriously obsessed with sweeping.
I wrestled brooms away from him in hotel lobbies, off of the maid’s cart in airports; he had uncanny broom detection skills.
Every morning would begin with us going outside at the break of dawn (not exaggerating), Jojo grabbing a broom and getting busy sweeping the driveway.
Every morning. For months.

This particular broom was discovered in the Forbidden City in Beijing China. This man was apparently in charge of money collection for a pay toilet.
There was a semi-circle of gawkers gathered around to watch Jojo sweep (again, I’m serious), and this man was making all kinds of comments in Chinese with his husky deep voice. The crowd was laughing at his remarks, it was like his very own stand up comedy show outside of his bathroom.
I had so much fun traveling in China with my toddler! I’ll post more pictures soon!

The look on Jojo’s face is cracking me up. I wonder why he liked brooms so much…does he still?
My niece came over a few months back and wanted to dust for me. I let her of course! And I jokingly said if she kept it up I’d have her clean the toilets too…Then I went on gabbing with my MIL and suddenly realized that Laura was MIA. I went into the bathroom and she had “dusted” the toilet with my feather duster. Dripping wet. Just in case anyone’s curious…don’t get a feather duster wet. It stinks like something awful. I had to throw it out immediately.

That is too funny! Especially the “comedian”’s expression.
My former boss’ son had an obsession with doors. It was actually kind of annoying because he’d bring the kid to work (kid had the pretentious name of “Noble”) and just let him open and close the doors constantly. And this was an art museum, so he’d stand at our classroom door and do this while patrons were coming and going.
My point is that it seems like kids gravitate toward something habitual like that when they’re that age. I wonder what Soren will be into.

It’s great he’s into cleaning and sweeping. This will come in handy when he gets married.
