Winners!
Well, I’m officially on holiday, but my Vietnam vacation hasn’t started yet.
I locked the door of my classroom at about 3:30 on Friday afternoon and have been trying not to think about school or duties since then.
I kicked of the holiday with a nap (woohoo!) followed by a date with hubs and involved Italian food and a foot massage at a spa.
One day into my holiday and I already finished the book I checked out from the library. German Boy: A Child in War was supposed to be my beach read. Now I have to find something else.
I’m looking at taking The Glass Palace: A Novel, or maybe just looking for a memoir set in Vietnam once I get there.
We will arrive in Hanoi on Monday evening.
Jojo is really concerned about our trip for some reason. He has asked me several times what will we do if we get hungry?
I don’t know why he is suddenly preoccupied with the prospect of having to go without food; that has never never happened in his whole life!
I told him that we will eat before we get on the plane, have drinks on the plane, and then go to sleep and have breakfast when we wake up.
He said something like, “I don’t have a good feeling.”
Maybe constantly reading TinTin Books and watching Indiana Jones movies is giving him a skewed view of “adventure”, that it some how involves deprivation?
Anyway, I plan on eating my way down the coast of Vietnam! That is how I travel, baby!

What a weird New Year’s experience! Maybe they were waiting until it turned New Year’s somewhere else in the world.
