Where the Wild Things Are…and 5 More Stories by Maurice Sendak (Scholastic Storybook Treasures) is the DVD that started my love and devotion to the Scholastic Storybook Treasures series.
It started with few clicks on Amazon, then a visit to our local library. I checked out Where the Wild Things Are…and 5 More Stories by Maurice Sendak (Scholastic Storybook Treasures) to see if my children would enjoy it or be bored by the storybook pace of the animations.

We checked out the DVD from the library for 2 weeks and then bought our own copy!
Where the Wild Things Are…and 5 More Stories by Maurice Sendak is a complete WIN! It combines the artful illustrations of Maurice Sendak with intriguing animation and “read along” narration.
As an added bonus, the stories from the Nutshell Library are set to catchy music, and the stories are sung by Carol King.
There is not a preschooler alive who will not love the song about a boy named Pierre! The hook? He repeatedly replies, “I don’t care!”

Where the Wild Things Are…and 5 More Stories by Maurice Sendak definitely do all of the stories justice.

Stories include: WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE, IN THE NIGHT KITCHEN (also set to music), THE NUTSHELL KIDS (ALLIGATOR S ALL AROUND, PIERRE, ONE WAS JOHNNY, and CHICKEN SOUP WITH RICE.

DVD bonus features are Getting to Know Maurice Sendak, a Spanish Version of Where the Wild Things Are, and a French Version of Where the Wild Things Are.

Buy it, borrow it, but definitely watch it with your children!
