Tropical Traditions Virgin Coconut Oil

I am excited about this tasty, healthy giveaway! Tropical Traditions is giving away one quart (32 ounces) Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil!

It has been discovered that coconut oil in it’s non-hydrogenated state is an extremely nutritious food with a myriad of health benefits.

It smells good, it tastes good, and has a veritable laundry list of uses!

I was surprised to learn that besides virgin coconut oil, the only other source of lauric acid is mother’s milk. Virgin coconut oil is rich in medium chain fatty acids, and wouldn’t you know? It is an ingredient in baby formula!

Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil can be applied topically for healthy hair and skin. The most luxurious of conditioners and soaps contain coconut oil. Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil contains proteins that actually nourish damaged hair and dry skin.

I was confused about the health benefits at first because I was told for years that coconut oil was bad for me. Apparently the “bad for you” coconut oil is the HYDROGENATED version (the kind that looks yellow and gross from chemical processing). Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil is white (like coconut!) and is actually one of the lowest calorie oils! That means by replacing your cooking oils with Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil, you are actually saving calories. I read that coconut oil is a favorite of athletes for this reason.

I became very intrigued and spent a couple of hours on a Google search about the benefits of Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil, and this is one almost comprehensive list that I found:

That just makes me all fired up to eat more Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil! You might not recognize me after all of these benefits start manifesting themselves!

Who’s that lady?

Coconut oil does not need to be kept in the refrigerator. Virgin Coconut oil is very stable since it is unrefined and mostly saturated. The expiration dates on our Virgin Coconut Oils are for two years, and on our Expeller-pressed coconut oils they are 18 months, but they will usually be fine much longer than the expiration dates.

I have been using coconut oil in my hair for a bit now. It has changed how the texture of the hair feels. Before it sort of felt like straw. I believe the natural qualities help in this.
Also coco nut oil also helps as a natural retardant for hair and scalp issues.

I copied and pasted since the Q&A was so long:
“1. What is “Expeller-Pressed” Coconut Oil (EPCO)?

Tropical Traditions Expeller-Pressed Coconut Oil is a high quality refined organic coconut oil. This oil is processed the “old” way by what is called “physical refining.” The modern way of processing coconut oil is by chemical extraction, using solvent extracts, which produces higher yields and is quicker and less expensive. Tropical Traditions Expeller Pressed Coconut Oil DOES NOT use chemicals or solvent extracts. It is made the “old” way by expeller-pressed mechanical extraction. This oil is also NOT hydrogenated, and contains NO trans fatty acids. It is a very good quality food-grade coconut oil.”

The meat of the coconut is usually referred to as fruit, and the coconut itself is the nut, or seed, that will reproduce into a coconut palm tree if allowed to sprout and grow, and the oil made from coconuts is classified as a “vegetable oil” in terms of commodity trading.

at first i didn’t understand what the heck you are supposed to do with it but then i read the FAQ and it says that you can use it as a cooking oil or replace butter with it, you can also freeze it, put it in smoothies, put it in coffee or tea or just eat it. I’m still kind of confused but that helps,

As a cooking oil, its chemical structure is kept in tact and therefore is resistant to mutations of fatty acid chains even when used in higher cooking temperatures, unlike most vegetable oils. Research shows that the medium chain fatty acids found in coconut oil boosts the body’s metabolism, raises body temperatures, and helps provide greater energy which can lead to weight loss.
