As a nonparent, I’m really surprised! From casual observation, I had no idea that traveling with kids could be anything other than a nightmare.

What a great giveaway for parents who want to get out and about!

Having just taken our first {2nd, 3rd, and 4th} flight with our almost 7 month old recently, I can say that it is possible to have a good experience doing so. I had lots of tips to work with and was so relieved to discover that she was a happy flier! She slept during takeoffs and landings, didn’t fuss hardly at all, at was so curious about everything going on around her that she didn’t seem the least bit worried about anything at all.

When I was little and riding in the car I always got car sick when I would read or color. It was terrible. I tell my niece that if you start feeling car sick, look out the window. Thanks for the giveaway!

I only have a three month old so I haven’t really had may opportunities for travel–but I am going to be traveling to Hawaii and Boston for weddings this summer! Anyhow, our best travel moment has to be our 1.5 hour car ride to the grandparents for Christmas. He was a complete angel so he made what could have been a stressful trip a relaxing ride!

My best travel moment with my son was on a plane when he fell asleep. He had never done anything like that before (he was not a good sleeper!), so we were thrilled that the hum of the plane (or something!) lulled him to sleep.

We travel inter-island a lot! My son was just a few months old and it was his sleepy time and he just screamed and screamed and screamed. We had very understanding passengers. Thank goodness he stopped once we boarded the plane. It was quite stressful to say the least. We learned a lot that day ~ make sure you get a good nap!

The first and only time so far that we have traveled with my son is to my mother’s house on Christmas Eve. We stayed the night. I was nervous because it’s been a while since a baby has been in the house so I was nervous as to how everyone might handle being woken up randomly during the night. I packed everything but the kitchen sink so I was very prepared. My son ended up sleeping pretty good considering he’d never slept in a playpen before. Thanks for the chance.

Our travels lead us to the mall. Not very far but memorable indeed. Little Mikey has one of those faces that makes everyone want to come up and say hi…. With Mikey that can be a good or a bad thing depending on what he thinks about you. We were looking at a rack of clothing towards the front door of the store. All of a sudden a rather large woman walks in. Mikey runs up to her (keeping his distance of course) and says “WHOA MOM, THAT LADY IS PUMPED UP!”

Little ones say the darndest things.

I think my kids are less whiney than my husband and love the car travels- singing in the car and talking about what if…but I guess when we went to see the Oklahoma Memorial together- the fact they knew from talking what it was- its hard to describe but that is something that really amazed and took our breath away-

My favorite travel moment with family occurred in May of 2008 when my daughter (14 months) said her first word - “boat”. We were vacationing on an island and it thrilled my husband that she learned “boat” while were were visiting his most favorite place in the world (the San Juan Islands) It revealed to me that my husband (though he doesn’t always show it) delights seeing our children grow and experience with world with us.
Thanks for giving me the chance to remember this trip.

I had so much fun going to Muir Woods Nat’l. Monument with my husband, two-year-old, and 1 month-old this autumn, but my favorite part was when my two-year-old exclaimed ecstactically over the ‘ocean’, which was the stream going through the woods, and which was verrrry low at that time of year! We went to Muir Beach, too, so she did get to see the REAL ocean!

My oldest has always been a great traveller. We recently had a wonderful vacation to Gulf Shores. It was great because we stayed in one place, with plenty of room, and kept a slow, simple schedule. We haven’t traveled with the new baby yet.

We have only one child - a 4 month old. When he was 2 months old, we traveled from our home in Utah to San Diego and then 1 week later went to Chicago, both on plane. Our son was wonderful - on the flight home from Chicago the man behind us even complemented us!

My very special travel moments with my kids that I’ve noticed is: They wont poop during travel, but the moment they reach the destination, they’ll go numerous times. I don’t know how this happened but I’ve noticed it since they were a year old. I LOVE it! And honestly I still cannot believe it.

I noticed it with the second child too and well I’m just jolly pleased.

I’ve traveled quite a bit with my two daughters. Recently my 4 year and I took a flight together. We got upgraded to first class and she was absolutely intrigued with the warm cloth to was her fingers! Her enjoyment of the little things made the flight even more enjoyable.

My 4 year old grand daughter has seen me practice Reiki - we were on the bus when she saw an older woman come on the bus, looking very fatigued - my grand daughter asked the woman if she would like her to do Reiki on her. The woman had no idea what she was talking about but said ‘yes’. When she was through the woman looked 100% more relaxed and profusely thanked my grand daughter. The importance of human touch?

Since our little girl isn’t here yet, my favorite travel memory “with her” is the trip we took to Northern California for a friend’s wedding this summer. It was my first chance to share my pregnancy with some of my dearest friends. It was also fortuitously the first weekend that my morning sickness started to ease up, so I could enjoy all the yummy food they had to offer! But we will really be traveling with baby this coming summer, when we take her to meet both sets of grandparents, so we could really use this book!

One summer my husband bought a boat & commercial fished. Our house was about 100 miles inland, so he lived in a travel trailer that summer and our first born, who was just learning to walk and I would drive to the coast every Friday after work to spend the weekend. She loved the ocean & we had so much fun that summer!

My best moment was when I took my son (who was 4 months at the time) on a plane to see my Aunt who was dying of ovarian cancer. The flight was so awful there and back. We were flying out of O’hare in the middle of winter and our flight was delayed hours. Not only that, but I was breastfeeding still and there is no private areas for breastfeeding moms. I have to say it was not the best experience on the plane, but it was worth it in the end, when my Aunt got to meet my son for the first time.
