Watching Christmas movies with the little ones is so much fun! I’m more than thrilled to have the new The Night Before Christmas… and More Classic Holiday Titles (Special Edition 2-Pack) from the Scholastic Storybook Treasures series!

124 minutes of awesome on 2 DVD’s, you get 12 colorfully animated tales included celebrate the winter holiday season, with stories about Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and other family celebrations.

The title story, The Night Before Christmas, is of course based on Clement C. Moore’s beloved poem.

Next up is an adaptation of Jan Brett’s tale of Santa’s visit on a snowy Christmas Eve.

You also get In the Month of Kislev (adapted from a story by Nina Jaffe and narrated by Theodore Bikel), Seven Candles for Kwanzaa (adapted from a story by Andrea Davis Pinckney and Brian Pinckney, narrated by Alfre Woodard), Too Many Tamales (presented both in English and Spanish, and adapted from a story by Gary Soto), The Little Drummer Boy (with animated illustrations by Ezra Jack Keats) and two Rosemary Wells classics, Max’s Christmas (narrated by Jenny Agutter and Rex Robbins) and Morris’ Disappearing Bag.

The second disc is brand new: The Twelve Days of Christmas… and More Holiday Stories kicks off with a sing-along version of the Twelve Days of Christmas, adapted from the book by Robert Bloomfield.

There is also Great Joy, based on the book by Kate DiCamillo and narrated by Jane Curtin; The Clown of God, based on the book by renowned author Tommy dePaola; James Marshall’s zany story, Merry Christmas, Space Case, narrated by Christopher Lloyd; and a Chinese New Year story, Sam and the Lucky Money, based on the book by Karen Chinn.

As I am planning our “vacation party” for my school class (since I’m not allowed to have a “Christmas Party”, nor would we want to offend anyone by insinuating there is a “Holiday” that we are having a “Celebration” about…), I’m glad to see that the The Night Before Christmas… and More Classic Holiday Titles (Special Edition 2-Pack) really does have something for everyone.

Entertaining and educational, I love Scholastic Storybook Classics on DVD because it is just like having someone read a book to you.
I have screened Scholastic DVD’s two times in my class now, and for some reason they pay more close attention to the DVD versions of our favorite class stories than they did when I read them aloud.

Would you like to win a copy of The Night Before Christmas… and More Classic Holiday Titles (Special Edition 2-Pack)?
