Snapshot_20100716_12I eat a lot of fruit, which seems to make my kitchen a favorite hangout for fruit flies, swarming around fruit bowls and near garbage storage areas.

TERRO® has a new New Terro Fruit Fly Trap that is environmentally safe, and even aesthetically pleasing.

fruitflyThe trap lures adult fruit flies using a special non-toxic food-based liquid lure.

Once they enter the trap, they can’t get out again. Bwahaha!

The Terro Fruit Fly Trap is easy to use and retails for about $7.99

Purchase on line at www.terro.com, Amazon.com, or check the website for places that sell Terro products.

I’m invaded by fruitflies in summer months and never knew about this product. Yippee, something that helps.

My neighbor is invaded by ladbugs. Visitng her one day, I somehow got enveloped in a swarm. Quite nasty!

We had a HUGE fruit fly infestation one day last year. It was our first and it was fierce! Apparently it started with some banana peels and other fruit rinds that had been thrown in our trash compactor.
It was so bad and we researched what to do on the internet. We tried the apple cider vinegar in a bowl, a drop of dish soap on top and a cone of paper over it. It worked ok. We made sure not to throw any food trash in the compactor, keep the kitchen spotless with no food spills anywhere and clear out the kitchen garbage can as soon as it was full. It took us quite awhile to finally get rid of all of them. I would LOVE to try this product!

Subscriber and I’m super excited about this as I never knew you could get rid of fruit flies rather than wait for them to die off on their own.

Our best insect invasion story was probably the Asian moths we had at our first apartment. It got so bad that we were killing quite a few each day. We finally called the apartment office and they had the exterminator come in. The exterminator said he’s never seen the moths before because they were not native to the US. After he left we figured the moths had come from a bag of nuts my in-laws gave us when they came to visit because of the amount of bugs found one of the remaining bags.

When I was younger me and my friends would always go skiing over winter break with the church youth group for a weekend. They always rented 2 bunk houses for us - one for girls and one for boys. The one year the girls house was infested with ladybugs. I love ladybugs but jeeeze they got into EVERYTHING. After that my friends started calling me Ladybug and my first email address was Ladybug followed by some numbers. I still have that email - but only use it for spamy stuff

this would be perfect for our house… my best invasion story has to do with buying a bag of pet food in the local store. You know those little moths you sometimes see fluttering around flour, or bags of pet food… well I happened to buy a bag of cat food that had those moths in it. They got into EVERYTHING! It was totally gross, and I called an exterminator who wanted $$$ to get rid of them. I ended up buying tons of Tupperware and other plastic dishes with seal tight covers-nothing in OR out. To this day, this is what I use and I have never had another invasion from those annoying moths. So beware of fluttering moths in the supermarket, and if you see them be sure to buy your grains, pet food, and flour elsewhere!

I canned tomatoes last summer and as a result, the kitchen was taken over by fruit flies. When I was done with the tomatoes, I launched a counter assault on the flies and used my vacuum cleaner to suction them all up. I even went so far as to bait them to the counter with banana peals so I could get them with the vacuum.

oh god.. it was earwigs. they get in the house no matter what and just get under and into everything. We left a cardboard box on the porch and when we went to pick it up the earwigs just scattered like crazy. *heebly jeebly*

We have a fruit fly invasion going on now and my home, and I don’t know why! The only explanation I can think of is that we just brough home hibuscus plants from the nursery and VOILA! all of a sudden we have a bunch of flies everywhere. I have tried all kinds of home remedies that haven’t worked and I really hope that Terro’s traps will do the trick.

We lived at this place (for a short time) that was crawling with carpet beetles. It was soooo disgusting! Sometimes you’d find one in the bed and I was so out of there! They had to fumigate the whole place and we had to leave furniture because it was so bad. Never again!
