Welcome to all the Bloggy Giveaways lovers!
I have been so conflicted about entertaining my children while we travel. Since they are so young (3 1/2 and 1), I’m just not ready to buy a portable DVD player for the car. I want them to use their own imaginations, and in the car they are forced to sit still and just THINK sometimes. Besides, the older one is attached to electronic media enough already, educational as though it may be.
I love to use our time in the car to introduce world music CD’s (like stuff from Putumayo Kids), language CD’s (like French, Spanish, and Chinese teaching songs), and classic stories told in a “radio theater” sort of way. We even have an Opera for Kids CD (I have high expectations, my friends). My preschooler loves repetition, though, and he gets on my nerves sometimes asking me to find the same 3 tracks on a 26 song CD over and over and over…it isn’t safe for me to be doing this while driving!
One day an innovative product came into my life: the SweetPea3 by the Peapod Toys company, an MP3 player for children from infants to age eight!
The SweetPea3 is strong and durable, so you don’t have to worry about your toddler banging it on the table (repeatedly), and it stores 4 hours of audio files on up to three different play lists (that is plenty of stories and songs for the trip to Grandma’s house). One of my favorite features is that the volume is set by parental control; once you set it, the volume is locked in, so there are no worries about your child accidentally turning it up so loud that they damage their hearing. The SweetPea3 also has an external speaker, so headphones are optional (but headphones do make my preschooler feel cool).
Since our household is one of mixed ages, I feel like my older child gets the short end of the stick because I can’t let him play with certain things when the baby is around. The SweetPea3 is the perfect product for our age and stage right now: my preschooler likes to use it with headphones and loves the independence of being able to change the song whenever he wants. My baby loves to just carry it around, bob up and down to the music, and press the buttons haphazardly, which I can gladly let him do since the SweetPea3 is practically indestructible.
The SweetPea3 comes already loaded with a great selection of songs performed by Susie Tallman and stories told by Jim Weiss (his voice was called liquid gold by CNN TV). Both of my boys REALLY like listening to these gems on the SweetPea3, and I do too! Here is a short video of my children enjoying some of the pre-loaded songs. Don’t judge my floors; we are renters. You can see baby Deeds toss/drop the SweetPea3 several times without any damage done. And these songs don’t skip, because that is the magic of digital, my friends!

Now of course you need a SweetPea3 player of your own! They are available for purchase on the website, but you can also try to win one here at Mom Most Traveled!
To enter to win a SweetPea3, just leave a comment here with what song you would DEFINITELY have to put on YOUR SweetPea3.
Make sure I have a way to contact you if you are the winner!
One winner will be chosen by random integer generator at www.random.org.
This giveaway will close on Monday, August 4th, 12 midnight.
Good luck, and check out the HUNDREDS of giveaways at Bloggy Giveaways this week!

My daughter is a special needs child. She doesn’t speak and has trouble getting around so she spends a lot of time listening to music. She has a CD called Jazz for Kids that she listens to for hours!!! It would be great to be able to put the whole CD on this MP3 player for her to listen to in the car or the stroller…or just around the house. It is so soothing to her.

I’d load the song “A You’re Adorable” which I sang to my daughter & I hear her singing it to her daughter. A lovely flattering alphabet song which isn’t childish. If I don’t win a Sweet Pea 3 I think I’ll have to get one anyway.
