I want to blog this sweet memory before I forget it in my jumble of Mommy thoughts.
Baby Deaky is 9-months-old, so he isn’t really talking yet. He is starting to be vocal, and it really seems like he wants to communicate. I am not the kind of Mom who gives a running commentary about every thing I do all day. I actually have to make a conscious effort to include Deaky in what I am thinking about or doing, such as “Oh, you must be hungry. Let me open the cabinet and get you some food to eat.” That doesn’t come naturally to me. I know in my head that babies can understand a lot, but since they can’t talk, I tend to forget to include a baby in conversation.
I’m trying to be better about it. Of course I love my child, I’m just generally absorbed in my own thoughts.
Last night Deaky woke up ready to face the day at 3 am. His diaper had leaked and his pj’s were wet. I changed his diaper, changed his clothes, put a new blanked over the pee-pee spot in the bed, nursed him, and tried to get him back to sleep. He was still ready to play. I kept saying, “It’s time for night-night. Night-night Deaky.” Finally I laid him down in his crib (next to my bed). He cried for a little while but I could tell he was still laying down. Finally he said, “Nie-Nie!” In a very pitiful, resigned-to-his-fate kind of voice; then the crying stopped. I had to stifle a laugh, as well as the urge to elbow my husband and say, “Did you hear that?? TEE-HEE!”
Nick and I talked about it this morning when we woke up. So cute! Little Deaky is learning to talk!

So cute! My kiddo doesn’t say much either at this point, so every little peep is pretty surprising! Thanks for your comment on my blog.

Aww, that’s adorable! I’m the opposite of you… I have a running commentary going even when I’m the only one home, haha.
