Story Time Felts

When I was six years old I went to a religious school. Once a week (or maybe twice) we attended chapel, where we would sing songs and some times have a FLANNEL BOARD STORY!
Now, I did grow up in a home with a television, but for some reason I was absolutely entranced with the flannel board presentations. Maybe it was how the colorful pictures brought the story to life. Or maybe it was because only the teacher was allowed to touch the temptingly soft pieces with all of their enticing accessories.

I remember that feeling of awe, and no matter the motivation, I can say that there is definitely something about felt stories that draw children like a magnet!
Story Time Felts has complete and diverse felt sets for all kinds of activities and subjects for hands-on learning and play.
Their product range is very broad, with things like felt board stories, felt story figures , felt paper dolls , activity books, holiday themed felt, math felt, music felt , science felt, and even history felt !

I find that these sets are both fun and educational! We were sent the lovely Aesop’s Fables Activity Book and CD.
I love this set because it has lots of great pieces and is a complete set for playing along with 15 different Aesop’s Fables!
All of the 57 pieces are stored easily in pockets that are placed on the backs of the 5 felt pages that make up the book.
The text of each fable is printed out for you to read, or you can use the included audio CD to tell the stories along with snappy songs!

I LOVE fables and folktales because they usually have a moral to the story. The stories included in the Aesop’s Fables Activity Book and CD set are intriguing for children, but have a message that even grown ups could benefit from:

* The Boy Who Cried Wolf - “There is no believing a liar, even when he tells the truth.”
* A Man and His Sons - “There is strength in unity.”
* The Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing - “Those who intend harm to others often bring harm to themselves.”
* Mercury and the Woodsman - “Honesty is the best policy.”
* The Hares and the Frogs - “There are always others worse off than you are.”
* The Dog and His Reflection - “Be content with what you have.”
* The Tortoise and the Hare - “Slow and steady wins the race.”
* The Birds, the Beasts, and the Bat - “Be loyal and stick by your friends.”
* The Boasting Traveler - “Deeds, not words, reveal the man.”
* The Lion and the Mouse - “Sometimes the weak are able to help the strong.”
* The Sick Lion - “Learn from the mistakes of others.”
* The North Wind and the Sun - “Gentle persuasion is better than force.”
* The Demise of the Frog - “Some things are better not known.”
* The Miser - “Unused riches create no good.”
* The Trees and the Axe - “If we want our own lives protected, we must protect the lives of others.”

Story Time Felts are made in the USA (Utah, to be exact!) and are a safe, high-quality, low tech toy!

Oh, and it is QUIET, and WASHABLE, too!

Jojo enjoys telling stories with his felts, or sometimes lining them all up to have a “parade”.

I love our Aesop’s Fables set and to be honest I want one of everything on the Story Time Felts website! Somebody stop me!

1.) To enter to win a $25 Gift Certificate to Story Time Felts, leave a comment here telling me a another felt set (besides Aesop’s Fables) that you would love to have! (You may enter once a day - subsequent entries don’t require you to answer the question).

Please don’t just comment with “Enter me” or “Sounds great”. That totally annoys me. Those entries are not eligible to win.

One winner will be chosen at random.

This giveaway is open to those with a US mailing address.

This contest will close May 29, 2009, 11:59 CST.

Closed! congratulations Terra Heck, comment number 15!

I would love to have felts to teach my kids with at home! That is what I learned on at Christian school, my kids are homeschooled. I want the Miracles of Jesus and the Story of Creation set. I can still remember how it impacted me in Kindergarten to see pictures to help me understand the massive thing creation became from nothing.
