I’m all for traditional toys; this set of maple wood building blocks from Haba put an exotic twist on an old classic!
They are called Russian Blocks, and the set consists of 55 pieces in 17 different shapes.
The spires are really fantastical; I bet this would be a good for setting the scene for some Aladdin inspired games, too!
Russian Blocks could open the doors for interesting learning opportuntities.
When I was in 4th grade, my teacher loved Russia and did a unit of study on it every year.
I remember drawing something like the Church of the Savior on Blood in St. Petersburg or Saint Basil’s Cathedral in Moscow (from a picture she showed us).
Whether you dialog with your child about the religious architecture of Russia or not, Russian Blocks can add a creative, open-ended dimension to your toy collection.
Ours incorporated nicely with our Thomas the Train landscape; maybe it is the Siberian railway!
