Show Us Your Mug

Since we are all here at the Tea Party, I thought we could show off our favorite mugs and tea sets.

Everyone has a special mug that is “theirs”; you know, the old faithful, the go-to mug. The one you get kind of upset if someone else is using it.

mug

This is mine. It is from a promotion that 7 Eleven had in Thailand in 2003. I had to collect lots of little shiny stickers with every purchase at a participating 7 Eleven. I finally saved up enough to earn my “free” mug.

I love it because of the shape and size. And it is unique; the lone 7 Eleven mug in our cabinet.

I only have one tea set, but I love it too. This one has 4 little handle-less tea cups painted with bamboo and birds.

The tea set is from Siam Celadon in Chiang Mai, Thailand. I had the opportunity to go to the factory in 2005 and purchase dishes for our home.

Celadon pottery, with its characteristic clear jade color and elegant curves, originated in Korea hundreds of years ago. The glazing process was perfected through precisely mixed clay, wood ash glaze, and double firing in a specially sealed kiln. The valuable celadon pottery of ancient Korea, China, Japan, and Thailand are preserved in many museums and cultural centers.

The tea set was already made, but I also was able to design some mugs and plates that I ordered and had sent to us later.

Show us your mug! Post a picture of your mug or tea set on your blog between now and November 22, linking back to this post.

Tell us why your mug is special, and how you came to own it.

Sign the linky so we can all see your mug! Participants will get extra entries in the Tea Party giveaways at MomMostTraveled!

My what a kitschy cup you have my dear! I love it; they have 7-11 in Thailand? Learn something new from you just about every day Candace.
The teapot is beautiful; I love the color. I didn’t have a teapot until now :) Fun Mr. Linky; I can’t wait to see all the fancy teacups, sets and mugs!

I can just see you collecting little stickers for that mug! It’s great that it’s actually ceramic, unlike in the states where everything is plastic (read: worthless).

I love that teapot and cups, and how cool that you got to design some stuff!

I posted about my dearest camel tea pot last January. Everyone who knows me knows how much I love camels. Most people say it’s weird. But my dearest friend bought this teapot for me last Christmas and it is my “cannot live without” teapot for sure. Check out my link to see how lovely he is. The only slightly disconcerting thing is when you poor the tea out of his mouth … it looks like … well … like he’s not feeling so well, frankly. Gotta look past that.
