How to Get to Sesame Street with Kid K’NEX

I was just a tot during the early days of Sesame Street, and now that I have two children of my own, I love sharing Sesame Street songs with them, too!
The Sesame Street bond transcends generations!
Ever on the lookout for manipulatives (fancy Early Childhood Education word for “toys”) that are both educational AND fun, I was pleased when Team Mom gave me the scoop on a new product from Kid K’NEX geared toward children ages 2-5!
The K’NEX Sesame Street Canister Building Set
is designed with little hands in mind! Building with K’NEX helps preschoolers develop hand-eye coordination, problem-solving skills, and encourages imaginative play.

The K’NEX Sesame Street Canister Building Sets feature large, chunky pieces that are compatible with OTHER brands of building blocks designed for preschoolers. That means the creative possibilities are virtually endless!
The K’NEX Sesame Street Canister Building Set also comes with its own storage canister (hence the name!), featuring a Sesame Street 3-D character face on the lid!
I’m imagining some GOOD Mama tricks when I encourage my boys to “feed” K’NEX pieces to Elmo in order to speed the clean-up process! (Mamas can be sneaky like that!)

The Sesame Street Kid K’NEX 14-15 piece sets retail for $10.99 and are available in several popular characters: Elmo (with his little fish Dorothy); Ernie (with rubber ducky); Cookie Monster (with a cookie, of course!); and Oscar the Grouch (with cute little Slimey the worm). Larger sets are also available (like Super Grover, which retails for $14.99!).

Kid N’NEX is giving away one K’NEX Sesame Street Canister Building Set to a lucky Mom Most Traveled reader!

*Congrats to our winner, Jaclyn Reynolds (non blogger)!

When my eldest was teeny tiny, we took him to see Sesame Street Live! As parents, we were ecstatic when
Elmo ran down the aisle and out of everyone, picked our son to run up on stage with him! We were sure he would get discovered AND what a great video to save!
Dylan was terrified and screamed, yelled and I’m quite sure he peed his pants…He wouldn’t go.
Funny looking back how we were angry with him at this passed up opportunity. When he later recalled the event, the time of the night was when he “danced with Elmo” in the aisle!

Mahna Mahna! Love that song! Do, do, do-do-do, mahna mahna, do, do, do, do, mahna mahna,…..
Also, I used to love Mr. Snufalupagus.

My son has the Ernie and insists he must have all of these sets.

    Thanks!

Snuffy was always my favorite. He just looks so stinkin’ HUGGABLE!! My kids are HUGE Sesame Street fanatics. We have a daughter with special needs and the only thing that got her to talk was “EMO!!!!”. :)

We went to Sesame Street Live last January and both kids thought they’d died and gone to heaven. Our daughter kept saying, “Emo see me?!?!?” over and over. She couldn’t believe he was right there so close! As a parent I’m thankful that there are educational programs like this with characters who don’t drive me completely insane (like some other large dinosaur types).

Thanks for the chance to win - what a fun giveaway!!

My favorite Sesame Street memory is when my daughter was still preschool aged and watched Sesame Street everyday. She would get a spoonful of peanut butter to lick on as a snack. The cat sat right beside her the entire time because he knew that when Samantha had eaten her share of the peanut butter, he would get the rest. It was so funny watching the cat lick peanut butter off the spoon just like he was watching Sesame Street and eating peanut butter for a snack. Boy, did that cat ever love peanut butter.

Grover was my favorite as a child. My 7 year old son was never interested in Sesame Street, but my 22 month old daughter loves it. We watch sesame street every day at 10am. I can’t wait to take her to the Strong Museum in Rochester to show her the huge Sesame exhibit. They have the stoop. =)

I have to say my favourite memory of the show is the “Christmas Eve on Sesame Street” special. I remember Oscar teasing Big Bird about how Santa could possibly fit down “all those skinny little chimneys”; and then the search to find him! However, when I was 5, Sesame Street on Ice came to town. We NEVER had money for that kind of thing but grandma won tickets! I got to go and our section was selected to ride on the fire truck zamboni! By the time I got to the ice from my nose bleed seats, there wasn’t room. I was so sad. Just then BIG BIRD skated over, lifted me up and skated with ME on the ice! BEST MEMORY EVER!!!! Now, my 4 boys watch the show, and I still enjoy it.

This post has been brought to you by the letter A.

My favourite memory is the Count. Iloved the Count and his obsession towards counting. When learning how to count, I would always pretend I was with the Count or that I was the Count. In the end, I learned to count at a very young age, but in kindergarten, I don’t think the teachers appreciated that I pretended to be a vampire.

I love Sesame Street! I still watch it with my kids. My favorite was always the teeny little super guy, for some reason. The one who sang and rode an egg beater around, haha. And the skit with grover where he is a waiter and there is a fly in the guy’s soup. I could go on and on, I should write my own post about Sesame Street.

We didn’t watch a lot of TV as kids, but Sesame Street was always on the agenda. I loved Snuffy! Now it’s fun to watch Sesame Street with my own kids. Every year we take our son to Sesame Street Live and it’s so much fun. Except one of the Honkers came by us and tried to shake his hand this year and it terrified him.

My favorite memories are of my own children’s love of the Sesamie Street Characters. My children’s fascination with Elmo has resulted in us buying the kids 6 stuffed Elmos, an Elmo chair, an Elmo stroller, DVDs, Elmo shirts & dresses/skirts & shoes, MANY books, tub toys, beach balls, etc. We are living the Sesamie Street life! I personally preferred Grover as a kid; and, my sisters liked Big Bird and The Count. My mom liked Mr. Snuffelupegus (sp?) best. I remember many bedtime stories with Grover.

I took my oldest son to see Sesame Street live, every year. It just so happens that they are always in our town right around his birthday. Well one year, I received excellent seats on the front row, side, so the characters would come out the side door, and before they would run up on stage they would play and greet the kids in the front few rows. This made my son sooo happy, he was thrilled and talked about it for years after that day.
