The Secret Mountain Delivers Storytime Music

Reading to my children is, to me, one of the perks of parenting. You get to sit close to your little one, put your arm around them, and they hang on your every word, sitting perfectly still (for a minute).

The Secret Mountain has a wide selection of quality books for children that really stand out. They are illustrated with gallery-quality works of art. And as an added bonus, these books each come with their own sound track on CD!

A Duck in New York City is the tale of a spirited duck who wants to make it on Broadway! This is an orignial story by singer-songwriter Connie Kaldor with an over-arching theme of “Yes I can!”. Hey, who is to argue with a duck convinced he is broadway bound? Not me!

On the accompanying CD, you will enjoy songs with great kid appeal, such as If You Love A Hippopotamus, and Belly Button (why are my children obsessed with belly buttons??)!

Dream Songs Night Songs from Belgium to Brazil is a 36-page, hardcover book that reads like beautiful children’s poetry. That is because the book is based on the lyrics of an international collection of lullabies.
The Dream Songs Night Songs from Belgium to Brazil CD is a collection of thirteen different lullabies from around the globe, performed and sung in the language of origin by Marco Calliari, Bia, Lynda Thalie, Idrissa Zal Sissokho, Penny Lang, Luc Lopez, Muna Mingole and members of the Canadian folk-pop group Hart-Rouge. More than thirty different instruments were used to produce this exotic album.

Your child will be lulled into dreamland by forty minutes of songs from Indonesia, Senegal, Algeria, Italy, U.S.A, and other foreign lands.

Along with thirteen calming and relaxing songs, Dream Songs Night Songs from Belgium to Brazil is also enhanced with a PDF files that you can open on your computer to view and print gorgeous, dream-like illustrations by Sylvie Bourbonnière, original lyrics, and translations of the songs into 3 languages - English, Spanish and French.

Down at the Sea Hotel is beautifully illustrated by Mireille Levert; I just want to rip out the pages of this book and frame them for art on my nursery walls (don’t worry, I could never injure a book like that!)

The story is inspired by the lyrics of a Greg Brown lullaby, and the 14-song CD included with this peaceful book features arrangements by familiar song writers.

Neil Young, Tom Waits, Nanci Griffith, Don Henley, Mary Chapin Carpenter and Billy Joel wrote the score for this CD, and the songs are as performed by roots music artists Eliza Gilkyson, John Gorka, Guy Davis, Lucy Kaplansky, Lynn Miles and The Wailin’ Jennys. Listening to the singers crooning folksy, relaxing tunes will easily lull your little one into dreamland!

These book and CD sets from The Secret Mountain would make a meaningful gift for a child or parent-to-be in your life!

Many thanks to Team Mom for introducing Mom Most Traveled to these great books!

These sound so sweet. Right now, my daughter is supposed to be asleep, but she’s in her room reading. Out loud. VERY. LOUD. Not smooth at all!
