OriginOne

OriginOne is a unique company that uses hip, fashionable, graphic clothing to proclaim a message of human oneness!
OriginOne springs from inspiration that struck when the founding couple adopted their infant daughter.

In the spell of wonder that babies bring, this new adoptive father realized that,

even though he was not her “birth” father, she was still related to him

When I first set out to write about OriginOne, I launched into an impromptu essay about the “problem” of race.

I think OriginOne explains their intent the best:

the OriginOne movement is about aggressively promoting human oneness. human oneness is about looking past differences that don’t matter. human oneness is about giving everyone the benefit of a blank slate upon which you can form an opinion after you get to know them.

by appreciating that there is a little bit of “them” in each of us, we hope to focus on our commonalities and disregard our trivial differences.

In choosing clothes by OriginOne, you are choosing to support a movement.

OriginOne’s “Racial Unity” line includes modern-fit thermals and t-shirts that are custom washed and dyed for unique color and softness, making each shirt as individual as the person wearing it.

The front features a distressed, off-centered series of the words “i am” in the background overlaid with “black, white, latino, asian.”
The back declares “i am human, i am OriginOne” printed vertically on the left side with foil accents complemented with an oversized watermark of the OriginOne logo Os.

This distinctive clothing is guaranteed to start conversations whenever it is worn.

OriginOne asks that before purchasing one of their products, customers agree to “be the movement” by taking the OriginOne oath:

* i will, through my actions and words, aggressively promote human oneness.

* i will not remain silent if I see or hear injustice.

* i will look for opportunities to share the OriginOne message and movement with others.

Photobucket
Besides having a cause behind their clothing, OriginOne also sees that 10% of all their profits are donated to like-minded charities.

They are even giving away a Thermal shirt ($49 value!) in honor of our Celebration of Adoption!

To enter for your chance to win an OriginOne thermal shirt in your choice of available sizes, visit OriginOne and comment here with something you like or a fun fact from the site.

One winner will be chosen at random.

This giveaway is open to US residents.

This contest will close on Feburary 3, 12 midnight CST.

*Congrats to Cori Westphal!*

I love the fact that in addition to race, sex, religion… they also promote respect for sexual orientation. As the mother of a gay son, I can’t tell you how important that is to me.

Sadly, I will not win solely based on the fact that I WANT this. I would like a different shirt to wear every, single day of the week. I cannot find a thing I do not like about this company! If I could have one item it would be the: racial unity t-shirt ~ khaki tea stain (women). I have never seen such a wonderful company. I am trying to figure out how to convince DH to buy me a shirt.

i will, through my actions and words, aggressively promote human oneness.

this means you will act fairly and treat others with compassion and respect—regardless of race, sex, age, weight, religious preference, net-worth, attractiveness, or sexual orientation

“if you want to wear clothes, shop somewhere else. if you want to wear the movement, wear OriginOne”

That was one of the first things I read upon entering the OrginOne website/store. How powerful are those words! For a company to truly believe in what they are promoting, not just to sell but to make a different is utterly inspirational.

I am uplifted after reading their “our story”. I have an 18 year old daughter, we live in a world of people, not races. She is a reflection of our family, the way she was raised, she does not look at a person, she listens to a person.

Whether we win or not win we have won by the words, any inspiration is a good thing in life. Thank you for the chance. Good Day.

THE racial unity t-shirt ~ black mineral wash would be perfect for my daughter in law who just spent five years working with tribal women in Vietnam and is in the process of importing their crafts for resale and returing 60% of the profits to them!

I love how when you get to the homepage, it has the I am… banner. The I am Human part ismy favorite. Because its something I saw all the time. Why let race define us? Let our characters define us.

I think OriginOne is the coolest website I have seen in a long, long time! I truly was inspired by their Oaths! They are all so meaningful and statements/opinions we all should take some time to really think about. One Oath that I love and that I learned from their website is “i will not remain silent if I see or hear injustice. it’s so easy to pretend you didn’t hear the comment or joke. it’s so easy to pretend you didn’t notice. it’s so easy to just go along and not say anything. it’s so easy, but it’s so wrong. every time we “let it slide” and give in to the situation, we become weaker and weaker. every time we don’t speak out against that which offends us, we betray ourselves. by keeping silent, we condone the injustice. by keeping silent, we are shouting our acceptance. when you put on the OriginOne shirt, you must rise up to defend your beliefs. be strong for those who cannot.” These words are powerful and the message speaks for itself. I am totally thrilled to learn about this company today and feel by visiting their website it had made a profound impact on me today! I would proudly wear one of their shirts to send a positive message to all those around me! Thank you for the opportunity to enter.

I like that they took the time to create great designs to spread their message instead of just slapping a quick design on a white t-shirt and calling it a day.
