Nature Made SAM-e complete 400mg I was given the opportunity to try Nature Made SAM-e Complete, a supplement clinically proven to naturally support a healthy mood.

SAM-e is a naturally occurring compound, and when taken daily it can begin to help naturally restore a healthy mood in as little as 7 to 14 days.

Check out www.sam-e.com for more information.

I got a three-month supply of SAM-e and have been taking it for about two weeks.

I feel I have a healthy mood but I can’t really say that it is or isn’t because of SAM-e.

Nature Made is giving one Mom Most Traveled reader a 3-month supply of SAM-e, a reusable water bottle and a journal.

Since SAM-e is best absorbed in the intestines instead of the stomach, look for pills that are enterically coated to ensure intestinal absorption. (Enteric means the pill is coated to keep it from breaking down in the stomach.) Also, look for packages that are blister packed to prevent moisture from getting to the pills and reducing their effectiveness

I learned SAM-e helps to promote a healthy mood by ensuring a balance of overall healthy brain cell functions. If taken regularly, SAM-e can begin to help in as little as 7 – 14 days.

Side effects: Generally speaking, SAM-e supplements have been shown to be very safe, with no known side effects. One reason for the low level of side effects is that SAM-e is a naturally occurring molecule in your body, and a SAM-e supplement simply replenishes your body’s own natural supply.

(honestly.. that’s a BS answer! but it’s what I learned)

I learned that SAM-E is a natural way to keep your moods balanced. It works with other molecules to keep your moods balanced> When the molecules are low, you will begin to experience mood swings. This is a natural alternative to hormone therapy.

SAM-e should be taken on an empty stomach to help it absorb. Lower doses should be taken once a day, about half an hour before breakfast. Higher doses should be split, with the remainder taken one-half to one hour before lunch.

I learned that SAM-e is fine to take with birth control pills.
Also, there is some evidence that birth control pills decrease folic acid and B12 in the body—two B vitamins needed for the proper synthesis of SAM-e. Therefore, a daily multivitamin is recommended for women taking birth control pills and SAM-e.

I found out the reason it is safe is because “that SAM-e is a naturally occurring molecule in your body” which makes sense to me. This looks like something I would really like to see if it works because it is also supposed to promote joint health and this would also be something I am interested in since I think I have RA. I eat a low carb diet and exercise because of this. Anything els that helps, and I do take many supplements, would be great!

Describing exactly how SAM-e works in the body could require a fairly technical response, but in a nutshell SAM-e helps other molecules in the brain do their jobs making you feel like your normal self. When SAM-e levels run low, those other molecules can’t do their jobs as effectively, and you can feel out of sorts from a mood standpoint.
