Montessori Home Kit

In September, I won a prize from a Montessori message board. The prize was a Montessori Home Kit, and the winner was selected randomly from all of the posts on the message board that month. I was thrilled to be the winner. It had to be shipped from China, and it just arrived today. I knew it was in a wooden suitcase, but I was expecting it to be the size of a board game, like the Candy Land box or something. I was surprised to see that the suit case is about 30 inches tall!
Here is Jojo working on the broad stair:

I took this picture to show how HUGE the suit case is. I could probably fold Jojo inside of it, if I took all of the stuff out of course. Not that I would do that…

The kit contains:
- 4 sets of knobbed cylinders
- small pink tower
- small broad stair
- color box
- constructive triangles
- rectangle box 1 and 2
- triangle box
- big hexagon box
- small hexagon box
- mystery bag
- binomial cube
- number rods
- spindle box (with spindles)
- counters and numbers (pictured with Jojo, above)
- hundred board
- thousand, hundreds, tens, and ones golden beads
- wooden fraction skittles
- snake game
- stamp game
- addition strip board
- subtraction strip board
- multiplication board
- division board
- small geometric solids
AND I thought it would include sandpaper numbers, but it actually has “Sandpaper Strokes”, which would be for children learning to write mandarin Chinese characters. I have never seen that before. It is pretty neat.
I’m sure none of this makes sense to those of you without knowledge of the Montessori materials.
I need to learn how to present some of these lessons, but Jojo is very excited about having it all. He didn’t even ask to watch TV like usual when we started “playing” with the kit.
Yippee!

Hi Amber, I couldn’t figure out how to respond to your post so I will answer your questions here.
First, the website was http://www.montessoriboard.com ; this actually isn’t a forum anymore, like it was a few months ago when I won the prize. But it is a link to the manufacturer of the Home Kit.
I have heard that a similar kit is available from the Alison’s Montessori web site.

I just bought this but I was very confused by some of the items. For example, there are these flat red and blue rods with numbers on them. What are they for? And the color tablets are all different colors, how am I supposed to use them if there are no duplicates?
