Max Tell is a Canada-based performer who tells stories through music.
His newest CD, Monkey Mumbo Jumbo, was a semi-finalist in the Children’s Music category of the International Song Writing Competition this past year in Nashville.
Max Tell has a bit of a “gather round the campfire” style of music that resonates with young audiences.
Each song on Monkey Mumbo Jumbo is a story, replete with catchy rhyming lyrics and whimsical touches like kazoos, back up vocals by kids, and jaw harps.
1. Barnabus the Fishie is about a fish and his inner desires.
2. Monster Under My Bed he has a…toe on his head?
3. My Huggin’ Rug Bug explains what that bug is doing in the rug anyway.
4. Mud Puddle Pudding tells of what happens when mud puddles come a calling.
5. Tummy Garage is about where you can “park” your food.
6. Merry-Go-Round Dog is about the woes of a bark-less dog.
7. Digity Digit is a bit of a reluctant love story.
8. When I Grow Up ponders the possibilities for employment in adulthood.
9. Jig Jag Juggler is a testimonial of a juggling enthusiast.
10. Waves on the Water ponders scientific questions, such as “How do waves get dry?”
11. I Want To Be a Sheriff…and I won’t let the mean bank robbers wash their hands.
12. Monkey Mumbo Jumbo is about one CraZy monkey!
13. Thimble Man appreciates the finer things, tiny though he may be.
14. Rodney Scribble is told as a story, without music. Max Tell has years of experience as an actor in children’s theatre.
I received a sample of Monkey Mumbo Jumbo for review.
