Mama, Is It Summer Yet? is a beautifully illustrated book for young readers, coming May 1, 2010 from Abrams Books.
Mama, Is It Summer Yet? shows the passage of time through the seasonal changes represented in cut-paper art by self-taught artist Nikki McClure.
The text is a conversation between an eager little boy and his Mama.
The boy repeatedly asks “Is it summer yet?”
Mama patiently answer, “Not yet, little one,” each time, pointing to the signs that spring is turning to summer.
I recently learned that children can’t firmly grasp the concept of time until age 10. Wow. We have a long way to go.
But Mama, Is It Summer Yet? is a gentle way to explain the transition between spring and summer. Eventually they will catch on.
Thank you, Abrams Books for providing me with a review copy of Mama, Is It Summer Yet?
