I remember trying to make “claymation” videos as a teenager, using a regular video camera and a wad of playdough. I didn’t get much more advanced than “animating” a ball of play dough to roll accross a counter top.
I had lots of creative ideas that I didn’t know how to implement.
HonesTech has a Claymation Studio product which enables kids to make their own movies using stop-motion animation.
With Claymation Studio 2.0, your child (or you!) can make impressive movies with all kinds of polished features, including imported audio or background music that can easily be synchronized to specific video frames.
My favorite feature is the Chroma Key, better known as a “blue screen”.
You can film your toy or clay object in front of a solid colored back ground, and then use Claymation Studio 2.0 to create virtual scenery. Magically, your toy is on a farm, or in the desert!
You can view this 2 minute tutorial on YouTube for a preview on how to use Claymation Studio 2.0.
I got a kick out of this short movie made with a spiderman action figure and Claymation Studio 2.0. It made me imagine making movies with Jojo’s toys while he is asleep, and letting him watch their adventures the next day.
This is a cute YouTube video of a hand drawn cartoon made by children using Claymation Studio 2.0!
I would have loved this program as a teen, a college student, or even as an adult (I love it now!).
Claymation Studio 2.0 retails for $49.99 at HonesTech.com.
To enter for a chance to win Claymation Studio 2.0 for yourself, leave a comment telling me what kind of animation movie you would like to make first! Who would be excited to use your Claymation Studio?
One winner will be chosen at random.
This giveaway is open to US residents.
This contest will close on December 19, 12 midnight CST.
*Congrats to Tracey Byram!*

I have never seen anything like it. This would be amazing. All my videos would star my kids.
It looks like a way to show them how I would have liked certain situations to turn out. Kids are visual and to tell them not to hit or yell at each other just doesn’t do it.
12 December 2008, 4:26 pm
my whole family would have a lot of fun with one of these. My 8 year old son would try to make a western he loves old western movies

Good grief, who wouldn’t want to use this? I’d have to fight my grown children to get a turn myself. My oldest son actually has some talent at creating figures and animals out of clay or playdoh. My other son has aspirations to become a screenwriter. So between the two of them they could probably create something fabulous.
