I love wearing shoes that I can take on and off easily, because I don’t like to wear shoes inside the house.
In the past, flip-flops and sandals have been my default, but in the past I have had knee pain, which I suspect is from wearing unsupportive shoes too often.
So sometimes I like to give my knees a break and wear comfortable walking shoes.
When I got the opportunity to try some cool casual shoes from Kuru Footwear, I was excited but wary.
When ordering the Women’s shoes I chose, I followed the directions on the website and requested a half size larger than my actual shoe size. I was nervous about that but it turned out to fit perfectly.
I put on my new Kuru shoes as soon as they arrived, and they fit “like a glove”.
I got a slip-on model and usually with sandals (even Choco brand) and slip-on shoes I feel the need to try to grip the shoe with my toes when I take a step. With the Kuru shoes my feet are totally relaxed.
I don’t know if this is the proper term (I might be making it up) but the “heel cup” of the shoe fits so well and is really supportive. My heel doesn’t slide around and there was no “breaking in” period where the shoes caused me any pain.
I spent several days on my feet as a substitute teacher in a 3 and 4-year-old class, and I felt that my Kuru shoes lessened the leg fatigue I experienced by the end of the day.
How it works: (from the Kuru website):
Nature designed your foot to cushion the body. Underneath your heel bone is a fat pad that cushions the impacts of each step. This pad acts like a shock absorber for your heel and skeletal structure. Other active footwear has a flat footbed which flattens the fat pad and damages the tissue. As you age, this damage becomes more pronounced resulting in foot pain, lower back pain and other health-related problems.
The patent-pending KuruSole™ technology is designed to reduce this damage. The thermoplastic HeelKradl™ orthotic keeps the fat pad where nature intended, under the heel bone and reinforced to support the arch. KuruSole™ construction promises orthopedic support for an active lifestyle.
I’m not a doctor, but I read that many Podiatrists recommend Kuru for foot conditions such as plantar fasciitis and heel pain, so I recommended them to my friend who struggles with plantar fasciitis, too!
I love my Kuru footwear and I don’t want to take them off. I only wish for a less casual version, and a pair in neutral colors. That way I can have a Kuru for every occasion!
If you have any kind of foot pain, please research and see if Kuru shoes might be helpful to you. I am really pleased with mine!

That’s a great photo of you! And I love those shoes. I too don’t wear shoes in the house, so I like ones that can slide off and on easily.
I’m off to check them out.

I won a pair of Kurus and they are super comfy and gorgeous although I wish I’d ordered a half-size down.
