craftcone_1 Starting first grade is a milestone, and young children in Austria and Germany are given a Schultüte, a cone made from sturdy, colorful paper and filled with treats and school supplies, as they leave home for the first day of first grade.

Germany native Vivian Lie has brought the tradition of Schultüte to the United States with her KinderCone products.

KinderCones come in different colors and sizes and are a fun back-to-school or Kindergarten graduation gift.

minis We received a filled KinderCone, Minicone, and Craft mini cone party pack.

The Craft mini cone party pack is not very “mini” by my estimation: it comes fully equipped with five 12 inch Craft MiniCones ready to be decorated and filled with party favors. Each pack comes with 10 pencils and 15 temporary tattoos.

As a preschool teacher, I love this idea because it makes the first day of school something EXCITING instead of SCARY.

I give the whole KinderCone philosophy, Celebrate School, two thumbs up!

You can order a KinderCone empty or filled. The filled ones contain an exclusively written 5×7 KinderJournal, a Karli the cat plush, five pencils, temporary tattoos and a limited-edition certificate.

Of course you can always add more goodies, and make KinderCone an exciting gift for Kindergarten graduation, the first day of school for any grade, or a holiday surprise.

coneI plan to use KinderCone to kick off the school year next year. Deeds will be starting 5-day-a-week preschool, and Jojo will be starting Kindergarten.

And I can’t really give one of the boys a cool KinderCone  and not give one to the other.

I’d never heard of these products. What a great tradition! Very cool.
