The last time I exercised was the day I went into labor with Deeds. He was born in 2007.
It’s been a while, eh?
When I had the opportunity to review the KettleWorx Six-Week Body Transformation exercise program, I knew it was probably time to break the exercise fast.
This KettleWorx program requires a 20 minute exercise session 3 times a week for 6 weeks.
Besides the DVD’s the only other tool is a KettleBell weight.
I got the 5 lb weight, since I haven’t exercised in ages, but I noticed that women in the video use a 10 lb weight, and the men were using an even heavier one (15 lb?).
The premise is that using the KettleBell allows you to move your body in 3-dimensions to get maximum results by working all your muscles at once.
The Introduction DVD shows you the basic moves and safety information, and has scheduling and diet recommendations, plus tips on getting the most out of your workouts.
Each DVD has chapters for “Week 1”, “Week 2”, etc, so that the workouts are varied for all 6 weeks. I think this is a great idea, but I was disappointed that the workouts weren’t “all new”. There was lots of “re-used” footage.
Even within one workout, the second set of exercises is an exact repeat of the video clips from the first set.
I was really nervous that the workouts would wipe me out since I was so out of practice.
Getting through the workouts was not a problem, since they are only 20 minutes long.
There were some things that I couldn’t do properly in the beginning, but as my strength increased over the weeks I was able to do all of the sweet moves.
By the end of Week 1 I remember lots of soreness in my legs from the many different kids of squat-related moves.
The main 3 workout DVD’s are “Cardio”, “Core”, and “Resistance”. They are about 20 minutes each, maybe 23 including the warm up.
Two “bonus” DVD’s are a 10 minute Fat Burn DVD and 10 minute Abs work out.
I did all 5 workouts each week, taking 2 days off, usually when my schedule demanded it.
I didn’t track weight loss (I don’t have a scale), but I can definitely tell a difference in my muscle tone and my endurance.
I have two more weeks to go!
I do my workouts after the kids are in bed.
This week, Jojo and hubs went out of town so it was just Deeds and I at night.
One night Deeds came downstairs after I already put him to bed and watched my work out. He kept saying, “Good job, Mama!”
I think the KettleWorx Workout is easy to stick with and is good for novices like myself.
I guess theoretically I could buy a heavier Kettlebell weight and up the intensity of my workouts while using the same DVD’s. If I wanted to, that is.
