Did you know that laptop computers are actually designed to have the short lifespan of two to four years?
Have you ever had one die on you? I have! Twice! Completely dead, huge-expensive-plastic-paperweight dead. When it happens, your stomach fills with sand.
Now most people would say that the MOST important thing that they would want to keep SAFE in case the computer memory was suddenly erased/ceased to function is their PICTURES.
While it is no fun to lay an expensive piece of technology to rest, at least next time I get the dreaded black screen, I can rest assured my precious family pictures are preserved!
Enter the PICTURE KEEPER, a flash drive with embedded software that comes ready to use right out of the package.
No downloading software, just plug it in your USB drive and it finds and copies all of your image files, no matter where they are on your computer.
If you have more than one hard drive, there’s a free advanced feature to scan additional drives too!
The Picture Keeper can be used for multiple computers, even a Mac and a PC!
Once you get all of your photos safely loaded onto the Picture Keeper, just unplug it and put it somewhere safe.
The Picture Keeper can also be used to display your pics in a digital photo frame, or to transport photos to have them printed (like at a drug store kiosk).
The Picture Keeper doesn’t just look pretty; it is smart too! When you take new photos and download to your computer, plug in the Picture Keeper and it will find the new or modified files and add them.
What size picture files do you have? Picture Keepers come in three sizes-
To find out what size YOU need to save YOUR photos, do this 10 second check
This little piece of brilliant technology is an asset to any family! The Picture Keeper has won a National Parenting Center Seal of Approval, an iParenting Media Award for 2009 Outstanding Products, a Father’s Day GreatDad Recommends and Mr. Dad Seal of Approval and an award for Dr. Toy Best Vacation Products for Summer 2009!
You can get your Picture Keeper on Amazon.com, or use discount code Blogger10 for 10% off any purchase at www.picturekeeper.com!

I would need the 8 GB Picture Keeper. I like that they had the information for checking how much disk space you were already using for pictures. I never knew how much I was using. I am just over 4 GB. I had no idea I had that many pictures.
03 September 2009, 12:06 pm
I have some of my pictures backed up on CD’s. But I don’t know how to add new pictures to that. I don’t even know if you can. Then I thought I would just do another CD but I have no way of knowing which photos I didn’t already copy. The Picture Keeper has that feature where it only copies the recently changed or new photos after the initial back up. Thats a great idea!

PS: I have never had a data loss on this computer, but I did lose everything on my previous computer due to some excavators ripping out my main electric line while I was on the cpu. I lost all my original photos and a lot of other things! It was a disaster.

I don’t currently back up my photos, but have used a usb drive, zip drive, and external harddrive in the past. And, yes, my previous laptop died. I was able to save most everything, but have lost files to deceased zip drives. So sad.

03 September 2009, 5:29 pm
Subscribed. I’m trying to get all the old family photo’s scanned into the computer. Then I’d like to restore them somewhat online, because so many of the black and whites are aged. I have even seen a colorization program the other day for black and white photo’s. It would be so cool to have them in black and white and then another copy in color. I have photo’s coming out of my ears right now that I need to scan. Plus my husband just started a hobby, possibly second career of Digital photography.

I would win this for my mom who is a photo fiend - so even though I couldn’t run the photo-analyzer (it needed to be on her computer), I would get her the 16gb size. btw - I love that she can use it to back up the files on both her system and on my step-dads (she stores stuff everywhere)

03 September 2009, 7:15 pm
I would need six of the 8GB for my photos. LoL.
03 September 2009, 7:18 pm
I don’t have a back-up for a lot of my photos - some of them are on a hard drive when I transferred my files from my old computer.

I need the 16GB!! Yikes! That way I’d never run out of room!
10 September 2009, 3:54 am
I have had a HUGE data loss! I lost all of the digital’s of my wedding pics. I was PO’d! I still had the printed copies to rescan but they are not as high quality. Right now, I have a couple of disks with photos on them, but I can never find what I need, when I need it. I’d love one of these!

I have several different things backed up several different ways…. I have a few things on CD, I also have an external hard drive that is almost full. We have had 2 computers die on us completely, and have lost a lot of valuable stuff. We also had a lot of pictures backed up on our iPod that died also!

I currently have 316 KB (323,584 bytes). Which is a little misleading. My compter crashed last week and I lost everything. I cried, embarrasing, but true. There’s so much I can’t replace. I think the 8 gig would be the best since I’m adding more pictures as I find them

12 September 2009, 7:08 am
Right now I just try not to delete my photos from the memory cards (I go out and buy another memory card when one gets full). Last year I lost all of the photos that I had on my computer when it crashed and I didn’t have my memory card “back up” system in place…it was horrible. I can never recover those digital photos.

We are at the threshold of 4 GB, so to allow for future expansion we would select the 8 GB size - if a picture is worth a thousand words, we have volumes to fill…

12 September 2009, 12:02 pm
I would probably need the 16GB because I had a 5GB external hard drive that filled up quickly. Plus I have pics on more than one computer. I lost alot of my pics that weren’t backed up several years ago when my computer crashed…after that I have made sure to back up most of my pics. I have an 80GB external hard drive now that I use every few months.
12 September 2009, 12:31 pm
This would be great for all the family pictures we have!
12 September 2009, 1:55 pm
16GB is what I would need before deleting all the duplicates, etc. lol 8GB would probably work after that.
12 September 2009, 3:06 pm
I could use the 8gb but of course 16gb is better!
12 September 2009, 3:07 pm

12 September 2009, 10:34 pm
My option for backing up pictures from my computer is a lame one…it is an external hard drive that I can’t figure out how to use to get my pictures onto it! (DUH!) I’m skating on thin ice right now, so I know that I’d better get this thing up and running!
