Jojo’s 4th birthday is on Saturday, so today (with permission) we went to his school to celebrate.
At school the children take off their shoes and put them on a special shelf outside the door.
When we arrived, the teacher was having the children make birthday cards for Jojo. I was impressed!
I brought snacks for Jojo to hand out to his classmates. He was proud to be able to do so.
Then Nick played some songs for them on the guitar (that was the teacher’s idea, and I thought it was fantastic!)
First we sang “Wheels on the Bus”, followed by Jojo’s favorite, “Yellow Submarine”, and finished with a crowd pleaser, “Take You Ridin’ In the Car Car”.
I looked at Jojo and he was just BEAMING with pride at his Papa playing the guitar for his class, but I wasn’t quick enough to capture it with the camera. I think I will always remember that moment.
The kids thought some of the “car car” noises were pretty funny!
It made me smile, watching their delight.
The teacher invited me to come “anytime” and read a story to the class. I think I will!

That is so sweet, and I’m sure Jojo will remember it for years to come. It’s funny how serious those kids look when he was handing out treats! It’s like the teacher told them they better not act up!
And I love seeing him smile while your husband plays guitar. Truly parents’ attention is more valuable than any toy.
On a related note, I had SoJo dressed in his pirate pajamas, complete with a bandana on his head and a cardboard sign that said Happy Birthday Jojo, but my camera is officially kaput. The camera itself works, but I broke the USB dock thingy and my version of windows is not compatible anymore with the camera’s USB cord. Looks like I’m even more desperate to win a camera.
Happy Birthday Jojo!
