I’M SO EXCITED!

I have drooled over beautiful handmade Bamboletta dolls for a couple of years now, and I finally took the plunge and ordered a custom one a few months ago.

Of course, I’m a mom of two boys so this doll would have to be special. It would have to be something that would engage Jojo and not turn him off by it’s “dollness”.

Jojo loves superheros and dressing up in costume, so I gave Christina (Bamboletta mama, designer, and fiber artist extraordinaire) some ideas about what would make the ideal companion for Jojo’s world.

The result, which I haven’t met in person yet, is pictured at left. AWESOME!

What you are looking at is essentially a “little Jojo”, complete with his signature red cape, green shorts, white t-shirt, utility belt, helmet, and fuzzy gloves. LOOK AT THE GLOVES!

I love that it looks like a little kid version of a super hero, and not a big scary “destroying stuff” type of commercially contrived hero.

I showed Jojo the picture of “little Jojo” and he was all giggly and I think very pleased. I’m sure it will be naked in no time (who can resist doll undies?).
I told him it was waiting for him at Nana’s house and I asked him where he was going to sleep. He said it was going to sleep with “Jai Jai” and pointed to the next picture on Flickr of the doll named Willow.

I’m excited to welcome little Jojo Bamboletta into our family. I hope Jojo comes up with a better name for him after they meet.

Christina is giving away a lovely lady bamboletta doll on her blog right now. The giveaway closes June 15th, 8pm PST and the cutie up for grabs is a an auburn haired lass named Delilah!

What a great doll, seriously, it’s the best doll I’ve ever seen, especially for a boy (I was biased toward our Furnis doll though).

JoJo and JaiJai are lucky boys!

Holy cow! I saw that on her blog and wondered what superduper cool kid was getting that… and wondered if she could make a robot costume for one for Jasper… did you know her second son is named Jasper, too, born within a week of mine?!
