As I type this, Jojo is watching a new DVD just sent to us by N Circle Entertainment.
Hurray for Huckle: The Best Outside Fun Ever! is new to me, but I have long been familiar with the legendary children’s books by Richard Scarry on which the characters are based.
Hurray for Huckle: The Best Outside Fun Ever! is a 66 minute DVD featuring 6 short animated adventures of Huckle Cat.
Along with his Busytown friends, Huckle Cat (the leader of the group) solves various mysteries around town, such as figuring out the identity of the town litter bug, or where a mysterious “flying saucer” came from!
These episodes are cute and wholesome; the concepts are probably for older preschoolers and above, as the “solving” requires the ability to follow some logic. But even if your child isn’t logical, they will enjoy the catchy music, such as the “Who, what, when, where, why, how?” song that plays each time the gang comes upon a new mystery to solve.
Then once the mystery is solved, a little jingle about how Huckle solved the mystery and you can solve one too! plays.
I did wish that one clip during which the pig friends jump up and down with their hands over their crotches and ask if there is a bathroom would have been omitted. But Jojo didn’t bat an eye or laugh. I guess having to urgently go to the bathroom is pretty much a fact of life to the average preschooler.
Hurray for Huckle: The Best Outside Fun Ever! would definitely be a welcome diversion on a rainy day!
Hurray for Huckle: The Best Outside Fun Ever! will be released on June 30, 2009.
Thanks to NCircle Entertainment for introducing us to Huckle and his friends!
