I have mentioned before that I am pro-babywearing for convenience as well as bonding.
One thing I DON’T like about baby wearing is that slings and carriers are often an “investment”; you have to plunk down some serious cash and then there is always the nagging worry that this particular carrier won’t be a good fit for your baby’s needs.
With those issues in mind, I have to give kudos to Hugamonkey for their very reasonably priced yet top-quailty baby slings!
Hugamonkey gave me a $50 gift certificate to their store before I went to Blogher ‘09. I used the money to get an Organic Baby Sling for $29.99 and a Black Baby Sling for $24.99.
I paid about $5 over my certificate because I wanted to spring for the Organic fabric.
I gave away the black sling at BlogHer ‘09 to a mommy I saw pushing her wee baby boy around in a stroller in the exhibit hall, and I tested out the Organic Baby Sling myself before passing it on to my cousin, who is expecting.
The Organic Baby Sling is easy to use and pretty much dummy proof. Now there are some serious idiots in the world, so I can’t guarantee 100% idiocy protection, but there is a cartoon showing you exactly how to put your head through the sling so that it rests properly on your shoulder.
You don’t have to do any fancy folding because the sling is already
folded and stitched for you! Just put your head through the strap!
The fabric isn’t bulky, and it is nice and breathable.
I really love this, back to basics kind of baby sling!
So whether you are looking to expand your ever-growing stash of baby carriers, or if you are just starting out and you aren’t sure which sling is best for you, Hugamonkey Baby Slings really are a good bet!

Thanks for the kind words. I can’t agree with you more when you said, “I really love this, back to basics kind of baby sling!”. That’s exactly what we’re going for - a baby carrier that allows you to get back to being a mommy!
