Holiday Soundtrack Lights: Celebrate Hanukkah: Live in Concert

It is always refreshing when familiar traditional songs get new life; it is like hearing them for the first time all over again.

Lights: Celebrate Hanukkah: Live in Concert is filled with songs from a new Hanukkah music special that will soon air on PBS TV stations across the nation (check local PBS TV listings for dates and times).

Lights: Celebrate Hanukkah: Live in Concert is an eclectic mix of performers and music styles, hosted and produced by international Jewish musician Craig Taubman.

The concert special celebrates the holiday that everyone can enjoy. As Taubman says, “You don’t have to be Jewish to enjoy this show.”

Among the contributing musicians are The Klezmatics, who share songs from their hit Hanukkah album with high energy and old country charm.
Cantor Alberto Mizrahi - the “Jewish Pavarotti” wows the audience with his Middle-Eastern rendition of “Ocho Kandelikas.”

Gospel singer Joshua “The Prince” Nelson puts a new spin on “I Have A Little Dreidel,” making it our favorite track on the disk!

Lights: Celebrate Hanukkah: Live in Concert is newly released and available for purchase TODAY at national retailers!

Hanukkah begins on December 22nd this year.

My entire family gets together to light the menorah, sing the blessings and exchange gifts on each of the eight nights. It’s not always easy, because we all work, and it makes for hectic evenings with work and school, but we make it a priority. It is a special time of year for us, we all have great memories of Hanukkah nights from when we were kids, and we are trying to recreate that for our children now. I am hopeful that my twins, who are now two years old, will understand some of the magic and miracles this year!

Hooray, finally I find a Hanukkah giveaway! I’ll be spending part of the holiday with my Christian in-laws this Hanukkah, since they overlap, and one they do to help me celebrate is play spin the dreidel (for m&ms). Everyone ends up laughing and I spend half the game reminding everyone what the letters mean. :)

I have been collecting dreidels since I was a kid and now have a huge bowl of them on the coffee table, along with smaller bowls elsewhere. also, when our sons were little, I needlepointed a happy chanukah banner, and had my husband and each son needlepoint stars of david and dreidels to go at the ends and middle of the banner, which now gets hung in the living room.

I like this opertunity to learn about Hanukkah. I feel I should be doing some learning about it with my children. I’ll have to find some stories to read them.

We take our 3 boys to Children’s Hospital every year, where we bring treat bags filled with Hanukkah stickers, cookies and dreydels…and they donate some of their video games. It makes us all feel good, especially the children at the hospital, the non-Jewish children also enjoy the treats and get to enjoy their “new” video games. Happy holidays!

We light the menorah as a family, read holiday stories, sing Hanukkah songs, play the dreidel game, make/eat latkes together. We try to show the kids that the holiday is not about gifts, much much more.

This would be great to give to one of my daughter’s friends who are Jewish. I always feel bad at Christmas, celebrating without them, but as they always tell me, they get 8 days of presents and fun. Thank you.

My family has been gathering at my grandparents’ house on the Saturday during Chanukah since before I was born and I love that we STILL get together on that day each year. Now we have FOUR generations who light the chanukiah, eat latkes, play dreidl (and bridge and poker too), and open gifts.
