I have always appreciated hand made items (except for a scary handmade doll I was gifted as a child), and I have always enjoyed doing crafts.
When I taught first grade back BC (Before Children), I quickly discovered that even the simplest craft activity required hours of preparation on my part.
Not every one had their own pair of scissors so I had to cut out hundreds of little pieces of things (which took hours), only to have them glue it all together at lightening speed.
That experience definitely dampened my enthusiasm for crafting with children.
Like many other moms, this is just one of many small things that causes me to feel guilt about not being the perfect crafty mom. So I was excited to learn about KidCards, a simple idea that takes the tedious parental assistance out of kid-made cards.
KidCards are greeting cards of various themes printed on card stock and spiral bound together. When your child needs to make a card, he or she can pick a page, fold it in half, and remove it from the binding by tearing along the perforated lines. All that’s left is to color, personalize, and give! I can definitely handle this!

KidCards recently was honored with a 2009 Excellent Products Award from iParenting Media!
KidCards are available in several different sets: Volume 1: Coloring Cards are pre-printed templates designed for the younger child to proudly embellish. You get 20 cards all together!
Volume 2: Freehand Drawing Frames is designed for children who are old enough to draw something special on the “framed” front of the card; these are definitely a step above folded typing paper!
The Special Edition: Christmas Book would be great to have for the holidays! It includes 15 Christmas cards as well as 5 thank you notes!
KidCards® also makes Teachers’ Editions, sets of 25 of the same card that would be a wonderful project for any “room mother” or teacher to present to their class.
New editions soon to be released include Volume 4: Invites & Thank You’s and a new Holidays Book - Variety that will include Valentine’s Day, Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving & Christmas cards!
Coupon code: When you go to www.kidcards.org, click on Buy Online, then enter the Penny Promotion Code “Blogger Bonus” in the box when purchasing 2 or more books and receive a crayon set AND watercolor paint set for 1 Penny.
Would you like to win some KidsCards for yourself? One Mom Most Traveled reader will in their choice of Volume 1 or 2 or the Christmas Edition.
1.) To enter to win visit the KidsCards website and comment here telling me soemthing you learned about Marra, the company founder! (You may enter once a day - subsequent entries don’t require you to answer the question).
Please don’t just comment with “Enter me” or “Sounds great”. That totally annoys me. Those entries are not eligible to win.
One winner will be chosen at random.
This giveaway is open to those with a US mailing address.
This contest will close on June 3, 11:50 pm CST.
*Contest closed! Congrats to faithful reader, Judy Brittle!

I learned that Melissa Marra began Kid Cards because she felt “there needed to be an easier way for her kids to make a greeting card on their own… something that really focused them in the right direction… and a project that wouldn’t take the entire day.”
