Fun and Games Giveaway: Xeko Mission: China

It is DAY THREE of “It’s All Fun and Games” week at Mom Most Traveled!

Everyday from Monday until Friday I will be offering a new giveaway for a family friendly game!

I had the privilege of working in Beijing in 2002-2003, so I was excited to get the chance to giveaway an educational game about ecosystems in China!

I asked my friend, Nikki, who blogs over at Only In Cambodia, to review the game for Mom Most Traveled. She was the ideal candidate because she was my colleague during our year in China.

Xeko Mission: China is the 4th collection of an eco-adventure trading card game where children and adults alike have an opportunity to learn about China’s ecosystems and meet the endangered species that live in them.
This award-winning game introduces kids to threatened species and the world’s conservation hotspots –the Earth’s most ecologically rich and most critically threatened habitats.
The hotspots provide oxygen for our plant and contain many important endemic plant and animal species (as in not-located-anywhere-else-once-they’re-gone-they’re-gone-for-good species!).
If saving the planet isn’t enough, Xeko Mission: China’s box design alone should capture your attention with it’s stunning pagoda-like shape decorated with animals from China’s habitats and dragon illustrations that capture the mysteries of ancient Chinese culture.
Eye-catching pictures of the beloved Giant Panda, endangered Snow Leopard and adorable Snub-Nosed Monkey tantalize you for the fantastic adventure waiting once you open the box.
Dedicated to “a bright green future,” Xeko produces the games in an Earth-friendly way. Not only are the cards and packaging made of 100% recycled stock, but all printing is done with eco-friendly inks.
Xeko cards are designed for fun and realism with eye-popping artwork that makes the cards especially fun to play with and collect.
Every Xeko game features remarkable plant and animal species from one of Earth’s 34 biodiversity hotspots, first identified by Dr. Norman Myers and recognized by Conservation International, Xeko’s non-profit partner and recipient of 4% of net game sales. So, not only are you learning about saving the earth, but your purchase of the game actually helps do it!
Like the blockbusters Pokemon and Yu-Gi_oh, Xeko involves collecting trading cards to create a custom library–or in this case a “Xeko system“–and using those cards to match wits against opponents in exciting game play.
Instead of monsters and fantasy, Xeko uses the actual animal species as the heroes, taking its cue from nature and science to explore fragile ecosystem relationships.
Actual play involves ‘turf wars” where one species invades another species territory in a struggle to balance the competing resource needs of neighboring species, which is all part of the learning that it takes a combination of cooperation and competition to help an ecosystem thrive. Xeko cards and Booster cards are used to improve your species’ odds at winning the turf war, and therefore creating the strongest Xeko system to win the game.
Learning the ins and outs of the game is slow and methodical at first, trying to figure out the best plan for creating a thriving Xeko system. While younger children can play and enjoy the game, Xeko is best suited for kids ages 8 years and up. I would highly recommend this for children at or above the fourth grade level because of the reading and strategic skills required.
Once the game-playing concepts are mastered, the ecosystem is yours!
Piquing kids’ interest in endangered animals and environmental conservation, Xeko seeks to inspire the next generation of eco-leaders through enriching and exciting game play.
Join the Xeko Mission to China! Since ancient times, a secret order called Xeko has watched over the planet and all of its inhabitants–great and small.
Join the Xeko Masters in protecting the amazing plants and animals of Southwest China and explore the land of giant pandas and mythical dragons.

Win a Xeko: Mission China Game!

To enter, visit the Xeko Shop and comment here telling me another Xeko product you like!

One winner will be chosen at random.

This giveaway will close on Wednesday, September 24, 12 midnight.

Winner will be contacted by email.

I love this one Mom Most Traveled. I suppose the other thing I like on that site would be the Hairy-Eared Dwarf Lemur stuffed animal. Not that we need another stuffed animal but it’s good to actually see a “replica” if you can’t see it in real life.

Hi, This reminds me of a game we used to play with the kids from school at the watershed. Some students were deer, others coyotes, water, etc. When we would say go, some would conquer over the others. The lesson was to teach how nature became imbalanced or balanced. I would love to win this game for my two sons. I like their “Snuggle Green-Xeko Pals” because I think they would compliment the game very well. Thanks, Cindi
