It is DAY TWO of “It’s All Fun and Games” week at Mom Most Traveled!

Everyday from Monday until Friday I will be offering a new giveaway for a family friendly game!

Today I have another brand new game to share with you from Briarpatch!

We like Briarpatch for their educational, fun games, and for their use of eco-friendly materials in their games and puzzles!

Boardgames are fun, but they are also an important way for parents to bond with their children. Besides providing a platform for quality time focused on your child, games help children learn social skills. Important things like taking turns, waiting, and patience can be practiced while playing a game.

Many games also teach academic skills. The new Clothespins! Game from Briarpatch is a fun way for children to learn how to match patterns, group like objects, perform simple addition, and practice counting.

In Clothespins!, the object of the game is to score the most points by completing your clothesline with three or more “matching” items from the cards you are dealt.

You can “match” items by having three-of-a-kind (like three shirts), or three or more different clothing items with the same pattern (like a polka dot shirt, shorts, and pants).

My son matched an argyle bikini top with an argyle t-shirt:

To complete the clothesline, you need a “finishing pole” card!

There is also the option of using “bird cards” to swipe laundry from another player, or switch items on different clotheslines. (Included in the game are rules for playing WITHOUT using the bird cards, in case you want to play with a younger child who might be upset by such “unfairness”!)

The Clothespins! Game ends when one player completes all three of their clotheslines.

To win the game, players count the cards that they have played and score points, while deducting points for any cards still left in hand. The player with the most points wins!

Each Clothespins! Game comes with 4 game boards, 66 playing cards that feature 12 finishing poles, 49 laundry cards and 5 mischievous birds.

The Clothespins! Game is best suited for for 2 to 4 players ages 5 and older.

Win The Clothespins! Game from Briarpatch!

To enter, comment here telling me about your FAVORITE game when you were a child! (I really liked a balance game we had called Topple!).

One winner will be chosen at random.

This giveaway will close on Tuesday, September 23, 12 midnight.

Winner will be contacted by email (if you remember to leave your contact info!).

*Congrats to MaryBeth I! MaryBeth’s favorite games were Candyland, Clue, and Monopoly! (The classics, in my opinion!) She blogs at Blogmania !*

We played a game called ‘In the pond, out the pond’. You had to jump on either side of a hose when someone called ‘in the pond!’ or ‘out the pond!’ The goal was to try and trick the jumpers: If you jumped in instead of out, or vice versa, you were out - we loved it!
