EcoAquarium Giveaway

frogs Do your kids want a pet?

Mine would be over the moon for a furry friend but I just CAN’T go there.

In my old age I have grown grossed out by the parasite carrying buggers.

Hey. YOU take tapeworm medicine one day and tell me how YOU like it.

But last week we DID get a pet- a hassle-free pet from Wild Creations.

Our two African Dwarf frogs were delivered live in the mail.

classicdetail-01 The frogs live in an EcoAquarium that’s a self-contained aquatic ecosystem.

The only maintenance they require is twice a week feeding and changing the water once every 3 months.

African Dwarf Frogs live nearly all of their lives underwater, but need to rise to the surface to breathe air because they have lungs and not gills. These frogs are fairly small in size and do not weigh more than a few ounces. These frogs vary in color, for the most part ranging from olive green to brown with black spots. The life expectancy of these frogs can be up to 5 years and these frogs are known to grow to a maximum of 2 1/2 inches long. (from Wikipedia)

The African Dwarf frogs are super tiny, like the length of my last 2 joints on my pinky finger.

Besides being a cool pet, the EcoAquarium is a great teaching tool to help kids learn about responsibility, science, nature and life.

The set up is easy. They frogs arrived in a plastic bag with a little water. A net was enclosed to scoop them out. After putting them in the EcoAquarium (filled with bottled water), there’s nothing left to do.

Order the Jewel Starter Kit style (retail price $39.99) from WildCreations.com and enter coupon code "BLOGGER" (case sensitive, must be all caps!) at checkout to receive $10 off. Expires July 31.

Wild Creations is giving away one Classic EcoAquarium Starter Kit to one Mom Most Traveled reader.

I learned of their eco-conscious philosophy:

Therefore, at Wild Creations™ we will:

    · Educate ourselves about the needs of the planet as a whole and our local ecosystems in particular.
    · Cultivate an appreciation for and a conscious connection with the natural environments in which we live, including animals, plants, soil, water, and air.
    · Include care for the environment in our discussion of ethical business practices.
    · Commit ourselves to policies, products, and actions that minimize environmental harm and maximize environmental benefit.
    · Support organizations that try to insure that our leaders enact responsible environmental policy at the local, state and federal level.
