Music For Little Ears: Dream Songs Night Songs from Belgium to Brazil

Children never look so sweet as when they are asleep. Sometimes, they are NOT very sweet when you are trying to get them to GO to sleep.

Parents can help little ones wind down at the end of a busy day with relaxing music on the newest release from The Secret Mountain.

In the tradition of previous award-winning releases like Dream Songs Night Songs from China to Senegal and Dream Songs Night Songs from Mail to Louisiana, behold Dream Songs Night Songs from Belgium to Brazil!

Dream Songs Night Songs from Belgium to Brazil is a collection of thirteen different lullabies from around the globe, performed and sung in the language of origin by Marco Calliari, Bia, Lynda Thalie, Idrissa Zal Sissokho, Penny Lang, Luc Lopez, Muna Mingole and members of the Canadian folk-pop group Hart-Rouge. More than thirty different instruments were used to produce this exotic album.

Your child will be lulled into dreamland by forty minutes of songs from Indonesia, Senegal, Algeria, Italy, U.S.A, and other foreign lands.

Along with thirteen calming and relaxing songs, Dream Songs Night Songs from Belgium to Brazil is also enhanced with a PDF files that you can open on your computer to view and print gorgeous, dream-like illustrations by Sylvie Bourbonnière, original lyrics, and translations of the songs into 3 languages - English, Spanish and French.

Studies have shown that listening to music in a foreign language reduces the time it takes to learn that language. Other benefits of using music to learn language are higher test scores, improved creativity, and integration of the right and left hemispheres of the brain for improved thinking ability!

When your child is drifting off to the strains of Nade Gau, an Indonesian lullaby, she won’t realize that her mind is being fed!

Music is a fun and light-hearted way to introduce my family to different cultures. Children can appreciate music from all over the world and respond to it through movement.

Lullabies from around the globe are different, but children can also see similarities to their own traditional lullabies. Children can learn that they have something in common with someone on the other side of the world!

The Secret Mountain is giving away a copy of Dream Songs Night Songs from Belgium to Brazil to TWO Mom Most Traveled readers!

Each CD is valued at $15!

To enter, visit The Secret Mountain and comment on this post to tell me the name of one of the songs from the Dream Songs Night Songs series (hint, look in the lower left corner of the page!).

TWO winners will be chosen by random integer generator.

*Contest closed! Congrats to Mrs. Sara (#135) and lisa e (#130)!

The name of one of the songs from Dream Songs Night Songs is We Are The Boat. William Saroyan once wrote that there is nothing more innocent than the sight of a sleeping child (in my interpretation, at rest and unworried), and this CD would help bring a sweet one to that state!
