Tune in to PBS KIDS on Friday, August 20 for the premiere of Dinosaur Train: Dinosaurs Under the Sea, a new one-hour television special from The Jim Henson Company.
We got to watch an advance screener of this underwater adventure through the entire Mesozoic Era, exploring the Cretaceous, Jurassic and Triassic oceans.
With the help of fabulous CGI animation and enlightening facts delivered by an enthusiastic Dr. Scott the Palentoligist, I learned a thing or two about Michelinoceras and Pliosaurus.
I hadn’t heard of these prehistoric sea creatures before. I must be living under a fossil *rimshot*.
PBS KIDS and Paramount will release Dinosaur Train: Dinosaurs Under the Sea on DVD on August 24.
The 120 minute DVD includes 8 different Dinosaur Train adventures, plus games, coloring pages, and a dinosaur reference guide.

My best dinosaur fact is that ALL dinosaurs layed eggs, just like birds do. It’s also believed that the dinosaurs are very distantly related to ALL modern birds.

A dinosaur’s teeth can tell us whether it was an advanced or primitive dinosaur, whether it ate plants or meat, or even whether it ate soft or tough plants. Its skull will tell if it had a large or small brain or if it had good or bad eyesight, hearing, and sense of smell.

I am impressed with number 1’s answer. The skull tells alot about the size of its brain, its eyesight, and its sense of smell.

A leopleurodon is not a real dinosaur. It is only a pretend name given to the weird dinosaur thing in the internet meme video Charlie the Dinosaur (who rocks by the way)

my dinosaur fact: some people theorize that their extinction could have come about because catapillars went rampant and ate all the vegetation available. This caused a chain reaction and soon all the dinosaurs died off

I don’t know all that much about dinosaurs, except that they are more closely related to birds than to reptiles (which was the theory when I was in grade school)

It is rumored that the stegosaurus had a second brain in the tail region of the animal to control the reflexes in the rear of the dinosaur. And, the size of its front brain was only the size of a walnut!

The Triceratops used to live in modern day Wyoming. And the Torosaurus, which used to be classified as a different species of dinosaur, is actually just a fully grown Triceratops.
