I always have high hopes of making special scrapbooks for important occasions. Do you have a plan for your Christmas memories from 2008?

Believe it or not, I have never done scrapbooking before, but I am excited to share with you this brand new digital scrapbooking software that is not yet available in stores!

Since scrapbooking is not my area of expertise, I asked Serif’s scrapbooking expert Joanne Prior about what there is to love about Digital Scrapbook Artist.

Mom Most Traveled: What are the advantages to using Digital Scrapbook Artist™ over traditional scrapbooking techniques?

Joanne Prior, Scrapbook Marketing Coordinator: Digital Scrapbook Artist offers a unique combination of unlimited creativity and ease of use, meaning that anyone, regardless of experience, can create personalized digital scrapbooks that look true to life. You can alter and embellish text, photos and other elements right on the page, which is faster and cheaper than traditional scrapbooking techniques and makes the life of a scrapbooker easier. With reusable embellishments and no more costly mistakes, it’s quicker than ever to create perfect pages. There are limitless possibilities.

Also, with Digital Scrapbook Artist, it is effortless to share your designs in print, email, on websites or with just one click, via DaisyTrail™, an online social scrapbooking network for scrapbookers and crafters to share their designs with family and friends, and to exchange creative tips with others. In fact, everyone that signs up for free membership at DaisyTrail will receive two free digikits, which are content packs full of themed embellishments, backgrounds and materials that can be used with Serif’s Digital Scrapbook Artist and any other digital scrapbooking or image editing software.

Mom Most Traveled: Can a beginner digital scrapbooker use this program?

Joanne Prior, Scrapbook Marketing Coordinator: Yes, Digital Scrapbook Artist is designed to be user-friendly and to provide a fun, affordable way to create truly stunning, photorealistic scrapbooks regardless of experience or artistic ability. Many of the tools are simple one-click options, and you can use virtually any of your own digital photos and graphics on the pages by simply adding them on the Photos tab. To use embellishments and materials, you can just drag and drop them onto your page – it is so easy to do. What’s more, there’s a detailed but friendly user guide and a selection of tutorials for those who need a little bit more help.

Mom Most Traveled: What can experienced scrapbookers look forward to with Digital Scrapbook Artist?

Joanne Prior, Scrapbook Marketing Coordinator: Several advanced features in Digital Scrapbook Artist appeal more to experienced scrapbookers. With the program, every piece of material, photo frame and embellishment is rendered in high definition at 300 dpi, the perfect quality for showing even the tiniest bits of detail on a page. You can choose any page size, including 12” x 12”, 8” x 8”, letter and A4, or create a custom page size, making it easy to print scrapbooks and cards with a home printer. In a first for digital scrapbooking – add a touch of glitter, a sprinkling of sand or even stitch items together with fully-customizable, photo-realistic paintbrushes. Simply select a brush and paint it on with your mouse. The program also includes unique, digital versions of traditional scrapbooking tools and materials found in craft stores, including decorative scissor edges and shaped punches for cutting up materials. In addition, you can lift items off the page with editable drop shadows, or apply fantastic filter effects such as bevels, 3D lighting and more for extra wow factor. Serif has included powerful image editing tools in Digital Scrapbook Artist to enable scrapbookers to quickly fix common problems with their digital images, such as removing red eye.

Mom Most Traveled: Where can Mom Most Traveled readers get a copy of Digital Scrapbook Artist?

Joanne Prior, Scrapbook Marketing Coordinator: Digital Scrapbook Artist is available at www.serif.com/scrapbook, and it will be available in U.S. retail stores in 2009. The retail price is $39.99.

Win it! For your chance to win a copy of Digital Scrapbook Artist, visit the Serif Online Store and tell me another product that interests you.

One winner will be chosen at random.

This giveaway is open to US residents.

This contest will close on December 27, 12 midnight CST.

*Congrats to Kim! Thanks for stumbling!*

I love the scrapbooking software, and have been looking for one! I am also interested in the Font Manager software. I do graphics and picking a font from one of my hundreds of them is time consuming and cumbersome! FontManager would let me create groups and preview them easier to make a choice.

    Thanks!

The FontManager X3 looks neat. It’s pointless to have tons of fonts if you can’t find and use them!

I think it would be beneficial to have Digital Photo Suite 2009 to go with the scrapbook materials. It is the fun and easy way to organize, fix and enhance your photos. I hope I can start scrapbooks soon! Thank you for the opportunity to participate in this giveaway!
