Deeds will be 3 in August (I know!) and he currently goes to a Montessori preschool 3 mornings a week.
On Friday evening he had his first ever “program” where he performed songs from their recent “music” unit of study.
Most of the time he stood there with the “deer in the headlights” look, but he didn’t cry (until the end when the curtain closed) and he didn’t run away.
The biggest annoyance to me was that the PARENTS in the AUDIENCE talked the whole time! And there were 2 babies crying, neither of whom were removed from the very small room.
I make this observation from years in the trenches parenting a screaming baby. I spent many a presentation and religious service outside, away from the action.
As it was, between the din and my itty bitty 7 inch high chair, I could hardly hear or see what was going on. I took this picture while standing up trying to smoosh myself against the side of the wall to be invisible.
Good job, big boy! I can’t help but contrast this to Jojo’s first school program, during which he was busy digging in his nose the whole time. I know it’s not cool to compare your kids but still…

Big boy! Wow. They’re really growing up. Jasper just started some morning preschool and it’s already improved his speaking and singing. I can’t believe our babies are so big. Aww.

I think he did great! My son wouldn’t have stood up there by himself, he probably would have ran away.

What? No live action footage?
On another note, I thank you for being the kind of mom to wisk away the screaming baby. I appreciate your sacrifice.

Mini Poem: I’m Deeds At My First Program.
I am Deeds and my mom is proud of me
because I attend preschool at Montessori.
On Friday we had our first program and it was glory.
I sung songs that were like little stories
and I didn’t do any nose picking or anything gory.

Deeds looks so grown up! I nearly thought he was Jojo.
I agree about the crying babies and talking audience. Not cool. When I lived in Philadelphia, I went to a movie once and it was so weird because people were loud and talking (and yelling) at the screen. I ended up asking for my money back. Not that you could do that in this situation, haha.
I love that first photo of him, where he looks stunned.
