If there is one thing that’s almost guaranteed, it’s the fact that someday adopted children will have questions. And rightfully so. Every child deserves to know where s/he came from.
The traditional baby book just doesn’t have space for so much of what is important for the adoptee and family.
LifeBooks : Creating a Treasure for the Adopted Child is a wonderful book by Beth O’Malley M.Ed. to help adoptive parents through the process of creating a lifebook.
Beth is both an adoptee, adoptive parent, and an adoption social worker; her wealth of experience gives terrific insight into questions such as:
In LifeBooks : Creating a Treasure for the Adopted Child Beth explains what to write about as well as why certain information needs to be included, and all of the information is delivered in easy-to-follow instructions!
There are sample lifebooks for you to look at, and ideas for lifebooks of children adopted internationally, domestically, babies, older children, and foster kids.
LifeBooks : Creating a Treasure for the Adopted Child includes real-life stories as well; this book is both a “how-to” on lifebook making and resource for talking about adoption.
Adoption is something near and dear to Beth O’Malley’s heart. Besides authoring this book, Beth has a fantastically informative website at AdoptionLifebooks.com.
At the site, you can sign up for a free e-mail newsletter with tips on creating adoption lifebooks, read personal stories of how others created their lifebooks, and even order different lifebooks.
Beth donated a copy of her book to an adoptive family for the Celebrate Adoption event at Mom Most Traveled.
Beth is also giving Mom Most Traveled readers the chance to win their own copy of LifeBooks : Creating a Treasure for the Adopted Child!

Oh…may I share? I have a customer/friend that has been trying to have a child for years. She’s fought cervical cancer and many other things, too many too mention. She had given up the idea of having a child as her husband wasn’t sure about adoption. Through the power of God, a co-worker of the husband mentioned knowing of a young girl looking for adoptive parents. Long story short, their baby is due June 16th!! Amazing!! I’d love for her to have this book!! I’m sharing the website mentioned with her. Thanks!

We adopted our daughter from Guatemala in 2006. She just turned 3 and I know we are going to be getting questions soon. This would be a great tool to help me make sure I’m including the things she will need to know in her lifebook.
Thanks for the opportunity,
Beth

I have two very close friends who are partners (we live in CA, so they cannot legally marry as they are the same sex) and adopted their 2 children via a surrogate, the surrogate was the bio mom both times.
They do have all the bio details written down, from health historys, parents eye colors, even to letters for the children when they are old enough. However, this is a great place to hold all their details
They would love and appreciate this, it is a great idea. thanks for the chance to win.

I can not have children of my own, so I WILL be adopting. My aunt adopted a little girl and never planned on telling her because she didnt know how. needless to say, the little girl found out about her adoption– the hard way, and she was crushed. This will be a great way to tell my future children
