Charlie and Lola’s Halloween

Two of my favorite characters, Charlie and Lola (or Chah-lee and Lo-luh) have a new DVD out now, just in time for fall!
Charlie and Lola, Vol. 9: What Can I Wear for Halloween? is 120 minutes long and contains these NINE Charlie and Lola adventures: What Can I Wear for Halloween?, Everything is Different and not the Same (psst, this one is a double length episode!), I am Goody the Good, But We Always do it Like This, I am Going to Save a Panda, I Slightly Want to go Home, Do Not Ever Never Let Go, I Would Actually Like to Keep It, and But I Don’t Really Like This Present.

I love Charlie and Lola because they have a healthy sibling relationship. They are adorable and always doing some sort of problem solving or conflict resolution.
They are just like real kids, and they are funny and engaging!

The title story in Charlie and Lola, Vol. 9: What Can I Wear for Halloween?, What Can I Wear for Halloween? is about the sibblings preparing for their school’s Halloween Party.

Charlie, Lola, Lotta and Marv have been growing a pumpkin all through summer.

Everyone has decided what costumes to wear, except for Lola. On the day of the party, however, disaster strikes. Bat Boy (otherwise known as Morton from upstairs) splatters the pumpkin and now Lola has a double crisis on her hands.

I have a copy of Charlie and Lola, Vol. 9: What Can I Wear for Halloween? to give away!

Back in the days of mini skirts I actually had a green dress that was so short that when I ’shredded’ it, I wore it as a Peter Pan costume. I dyed some tights green and wore a little felt Peter Pan hat. YIPES! I think I was about 40 years younger and 40 pounds thinner than I am now.

My best costume was a witch…but it wasn’t just any witch costume…it was an antique black silk dress and of course the witch hat and broom with black lace up boots. What really made the costume was the makeup…my parents bought a big ugly warted nose that they stuck to my face and then painted it and the rest of my face green! I won several costume parties that year….but I was so ugly, that I secretly wished that I had been a princess or something cute (which is normally what I was for Halloween)!
