Celebrate Earth Day With Xeko

Do you have plans to celebrate Earth Day with your children on April 22?

Last year was my initiation into Earth Day as a parent. Jojo was 3 1/2 and old enough to loosely grasp the Earth Day concept.

His school put on an “EcoFest”, which included Jojo’s class singing a song called “Life is a Breath of Fresh Air“. The chorus entreated all to “do your share for cleaner air,” with helpful tips such as keeping the thermostat on 78 degrees (kind of hard for a 3 year old to sing).

Other “highlights” of the evening were watching the older children interpret the Dr. Seuss story The Lorax, then learning about sustainable construction.

What REALLY would have brought some fun to the EcoFest would be fun games that entertain while educate about the importance of preserving the environment!
Xeko is a company that has fun games and toys that fit this description.
Dedicated to “a bright green future,” Xeko produces the games in an Earth-friendly way. Not only are the cards and packaging made of 100% recycled stock, but all printing is done with eco-friendly inks.

Xeko also has eco-friendly stuffed toys called Xeko Pals!
We have the squishy-soft Giant Panda, made with soy and certified organic cotton “fur” and filled with soy-based stuffing.

These adorable friends are soft and squeezable, and a sweet, organic addition to your child’s stuffed toy collection.

All Xeko Pals feature “mission codes” that allow kids to join the fun at xeko.com, where the Xeko adventure comes to life on the web.

Xeko delivers ecological concepts to children in a fun, educational way, to inspire kids of all ages to help preserve and protect our planet.

Mission: China, received Creative Child Magazine’s 2008 Game of the Year Award, the National Parenting Center’s Seal of Approval, and the 2008 iParenting Media Outstanding Products Award.
The Xeko Pals line has been honored with Creative Child’s Seal of Excellence!

When you shop at the Xeko Store (http://xekostore.com/), use coupon code: gogreen for 15% off your entire order!
This coupon code can be used more than once, and does not expire until 10/31/09!

4% of Xeko Pals net sales are donated to Conservation International.

Xeko wants to giveaway Xeko Pals™ “Hairy” toy to one Mom Most Traveled reader!
Hairy is the hairy-eared dwarf lemur from Madagascar—the toy is life-sized (these lemurs are about the size of a softball in real life), made of a soy-based fabric and filled with soy stuffing!

1.) To win this adorable, earth-friendly plush ($16.99 value), leave a comment about what you will do this year to teach the children in your life about Earth Day. (You may enter once a day - subsequent entries don’t require you to answer the question).

Please don’t just comment with “Enter me” or “Sounds great”. That totally annoys me. Those entries are not eligible to win.

One winner will be chosen at random.

This giveaway is open to those with a US mailing address.

This contest will close at 11:59 pm CST, on Earth Day, April 22, 2009

Read our Xeko game review, and our Xeko Pals giant panda rave!

i’ve already started teaching my 2 year old granddaughter about recycling and about not wasting water. she catches on fast. so a stuffed animal as a reward for her efforts would mean she would learn a lot faster about other aspects of cleaning up the earth. she often helps me pick up garbabe thrown on the lawn after a heavy wind. i explain as best i can to a 2 yr. old why i am picking up the garbage and what it means

On our walk to school, we’ll talk about why we walk to school instead of taking the car. We’ll also do some planting around the yard and as it falls on the day that we put out the recycling so I can have the kids help me with that also.

Actually, in honor of Earth Day my kids and I are going to set up some sort of neighborhood recycling program. Our city doesn’t recycle yet so we are going to see if people will sign up for us to come pick up their papers, cardboard, plastic water bottles, aluminum cans once a week. I think this would be a great summer project for the kids.

We recycle everything at our home. We only use earth friendly products wherever possible. We teach our kids and they are even teaching us many lessons on protecting our Earth. My kids are really smart and pick up on what’s going on. This Saturday, we are planting a tree in our yard for each member of our family. My kids get to pick their own. We are going to see Disney Earth movie and then to Wegman’s Earth event in store for many more great tips and ideas. Blessings.
