CARES For Your Little Traveler

CARES is a child aviation restraint that slides around the seat back and attaches to the lap belt to give young children the much-needed sternum strap that traditional car seats provide.

The CARES child flight safety device is the only FAA certified child restraint that is equal to the safety level of a car seat. CARES is manufactured by AmSafe, the leading maker of airplane seat belts and pilot restraints.
CARES is the ONLY alternative to a car seat that is permitted on planes.
CARES is designed for children between 22 and 44 lbs who sit in their own seat.

CARES weighs only 1 lb and folds up very very small, making it exponentially easier to manage than a car seat!
It comes with it’s own 6″ storage sack and an instructional DVD (although it only takes one minute to install the CARES harness on the plane seat, watching the instructional DVD might boost your confidence).

CARES has won numerous awards, including the Good Housekeeping 2008 Good Buy Award, the National Parenting Center 2007 Seal of Approval, and several others!

My preschooler enjoys wearing the CARES harness while in-flight, because it is like a “pilot” or even a “hero” restraint.
It saves me some headache because the CARES harness reminds him to stay in his seat, and isn’t as easy for him to unbuckle as the standard airline lap belt.

Family Travel Gear is giving one VERY lucky Mom Most Traveled reader a CARES safety restraint (retail value $74.95)!

To enter, visit the Family Travel Gear website and look around.

Leave a comment on this post telling me one other item you would love to have for holiday travel.

When will you use your CARES?

We are taking a 12 hour car trip for Thanksgiving. It sure would be great to have the Kids Car Organizer XL to hold all of the toys, etc.

    Trunki Original Ride-on Suitcase
I mentioned in your other contest - my son, wife, 3 kids, Mother-in-law, brother-inlaw, wife and 2 kids (10 in all) are heading to that BIG Florida Theme Park New-Year’s Eve. This will be a first-time advenure and I wonder how it will play out. The ride-on suitcase is really a cute idea, especially for grandaugher who will turn 3 on that day and is quiet a handful to say the least. There will be 5 kids - the oldest just turned 7, so this will certainly be a hectic event.

I travel frequently with my daughter, flying with her about 3-4 times per year. We travel to the east coast to see grandpa, the west coast to see grandma, the northeast to see aunts and uncles, and stay in the midwest (still by air) to visit my daughter’s birth mother. The CARES child flight safety device would be awesome to have on these flights.

The BedBugz portable bed bolster by Toddler Coddler would be an amazing addition to our travel gear as I never know where we’ll be sleeping and whether or not they’ll have adequately kid safe sleeping arrangements.

I have always wanted CARES to use with my youngest kids. The airline approved car seats are next to impossible to fit through the aisles and then get hooked up into the airline seats and all the attendants always refuse to help. I think it is a WONDERFUL idea.

The other thing I think would be a sweet blessing is the Snack and Play Travel Tray. It would even be a great thing for in my van when I take our older teen back n forth to high school each day. We spend about 1.5-2 hours commuting a day now.
