Anyone with a Lego-loving child realizes quite quickly that Legos can become an expensive habit. Jojo loves Lego like nothing else, and I was thrilled to be introduced to two budget-friendly Lego sets that your brick builder will love, too! First of all, lest you doubt the validity of my claims, I wanted to share this picture of Jojo’s 5th birthday cake from his party in late October.
I surprised him with LEGO Indiana Jones Motorcycle Chase ($14.99 on Amazon) atop his cake. He was so excited that he ignored his 4 party guests in favor of playing with the Lego stuff.
I had to pry it away from him for the remaining 30 minutes of the party. CREATOR Mini Sets are a great find for me.
At only $4.99, each LEGO® CREATOR kit features
3-models-in-1 building and rebuilding potential which means LOTS of play value. The Mini sets come in a really neat plastic container that is sturdy enough to use for storage. Jojo was really excited about the different possibilities.
He (a newly-turned 5-year-old) was able to follow the instructions of our Mini Jet to
make all three projects: a jet, a speed boat, and a space shuttle.
This is a photo of how he incorporated his Lego mini-figures (from a different set) into the “speed boat”. Mini Off-road can be built into an off-roader, a tractor, or telehandler.
The ARV is $4.99. Check Lego.com, because they are showing up as high as $11 on Amazon! Boo!

Another win by LEGO is their new series, My First LEGO® sets, available in three themes: Fire, Pirates and Castle. Each retails for $9.99.
Our LEGO Pirate Building Set is fantastic! It has several different projects such as a ship, crab, octopus, treasure chest, shark, and includes some neat special pieces, like “diamonds”, a pirate minifigure, and a parrot’s head. The other kits in the series, LEGO Fire Fighter Building Set and LEGO Castle Building Set look promising as well.
Between the Mini Jet and the LEGO Pirate Building Set, you could spend only $15.98 and have a decent LEGO collection. To tell the truth I had taken away the rest of Jojo’s Legos as punishment (for not sharing) a few days before I gave him the new kits.
He was so busy with the new LEGO that I forgot I had taken the old ones away until 3 weeks later! So if Santa is on a budget and needs some ideas, tell him about these two great options from LEGO!
I bought the Indiana Jones LEGO Set on Amazon. The other two kits were provided to me in exchange for my honest review.

You probably won’t believe this, but my son who is the 4 year old version of yours.. who loves Indiana Jones received all 3 of the same sets on his birthday which was Indiana Jones themed. Call me wacky, but that’s a crazy coincidence.
