Want to add “eating organic” or “buying green” to your New Year’s Resolutions for 2010?
Greensbury Market is having a great free shipping deal until 12/31 when you buy certain value packs.
Greensbury Market sent my family some organic chicken and beef to try out, and I did a little research into the benefits of eating organic meats.
Buying organic meat is eco-friendly. By law, organically raised animals are not allowed to be given antibiotics, added hormones, GMO feed or other drugs. The animals themselves are not genetically modified, either!
Organically raised animals aren’t given feed that contains ground up animal parts. This means there is no risk of Mad Cow disease.
Synthetic pesticides are not used on animal food or land, which safeguards groundwater, farmers’ health, topsoil, habitats, and neighborhood health.
On the self-serving benefits of eating organic meat, grass-fed beef has two to four times more omega-3s than meat from grain-fed animals and is lower in fat and calories. So you could theoretically switch from grain-fed to grass-fed beef and lose weight without doing anything else.
And, the most self serving reason of all? Organic meat is just plain tastier than meat that was processed in The Jungle. (I read The Jungle as a teen and I still get skeeved out by certain types of canned goods. Blech! I digress…)
Stock that freezer full of organic meats from Greensbury and you will be off to a great start!
The Organic Meat Value Pack includes
and is on sale for $149 plus free shipping.
Orders from Greensbury Market are shipped via UPS in a recyclable Expanded Polystyrene foam container packed with dry ice. Ours arrived after we had gone for an overnight trip. We arrived home to meat on the porch (happens all the time! J/K) but it was still completely frozen. Go Greensbury!
Each cut is individually sealed and guaranteed to maintain freshness for up to 6 months in your freezer.
