Music for Little Ears: Baby Loves Salsa (And Mommy, Too!)

Are you looking for some fun music to energize those long car rides? Baby Loves Salsa is a fun CD is helping to bring Latin flair to nurseries everywhere!

Produced by Grammy winning producer Aaron “Luis” Levinson, Baby Loves Salsa features some big stars in contemporary salsa music, like band leader and singer Jose Conde.

Baby Loves Salsa is the third release from the independent Baby Loves Music label. (Remember Baby Loves Disco and Baby Loves Jazz?)

Baby Loves Salsa tells the story of a group of kittens and puppies from the streets of NYC come together to become the best salsa band in the land.

It is impossible to listen to Baby Loves Salsa and not get the urge to dance (even if you have never danced before!).

You know the favorite song Old MacDonald (he had a farm, if you remember correctly)? You will like it even MORE when you hear it SALSA-STYLE! Ole!

Baby Loves Salsa will have you wanting to mambo all over the kitchen, or at least bob your head a little while sitting in a traffic jam on the freeway (couldn’t you use a little color in your life in moments like those?).

I wouldn’t have known this before, but my children love salsa music! Deeds gets oddly quiet and contemplative. I haven’t decided if he is in awe of the music, or if his little brain is trying to decipher the new and unfamiliar Spanish words that is hearing.

The CD is packaged in a thick, 26 page board book that teaches preschoolers all about salsa (and Spanish) in a way that parents and kids children can both enjoy.

There is a lot of buzz about this great little CD! Baby Loves Salsa has been called, “the best musical value of the season” by the Parents Music Counsel, and “an early bet for record of the year” by Family Time Magazine!

The book and CD feature a cast of animal characters with great names, such as “Lalo el Largo,’ “Chico Chocolate,” “Arsenio Ruff Ruff”and “Tito El Frito.”

Baby Loves Salsa is also available formats for tech-savvy parents and kids. You can purchase it from online book retailer MobiStories, with the music, images and text delivered as a podcast.

The Baby Loves Salsa website (http://babylovessalsa.com/) has lots of free resources for parents and teachers, including coloring pages and Spanish lessons!

Baby Loves Salsa is a high-quality recording made by REAL musicians; that is something that can’t be said for every children’s CD on the market today!

Two Mom Most Traveled readers can win their own copy of Baby Loves Salsa! (I wish I knew some clever Spanish phrase to type right now! Um. ¿Puede ayudarme?)

To enter, visit the Baby Loves Music website and tell me something fun you find over there!

No copycat comments, please!

TWO winners will be chosen at random.

*Contest closed! Congrats to Brooke (comment #66) and amy (comment #57)*

The hilarious part is that for Baby Loves Jazz, they turned Duke Ellington into Duck Ellington and Ella Fitzgerald into Ella the Elephant. Nice touch.
