Elliott Anderson and his wife, Angie, struggled with infertility for 9 years before deciding to pursue adoption.
Elliott has written Answers in Abundance: A Miraculous Adoption Journey as Told from a Father’s Heart, a unique memoir of the infertility journey and adoption process from a man’s perspective.
Elliott and Angie’s story is a veritable roller coaster of emotion; after being chosen to
adopt twin boys, they immediately got pregnant for the first time in 10 years!
This baby was born prematurely at 33 weeks and barely survived; but survive she did, making the Andersons a family of 5, with 3 babies under the age of 9 months!
Miracle of miracles, Angie got pregnant again, for a grand total of 4 children in a period of 2 years and 14 days!
According to the Andersons, life has been a whirlwind of love and chaos ever since!
Answers in Abundance: A Miraculous Adoption Journey as Told from a Father’s Heart chronicles the Anderson’s struggle with infertility with straightforward honesty.
Elliott shares their times of frustration and doubt during the couple’s years of infertility, as well as thoughts he wrestled with before ultimately pursuing adoption.
The Andersons had several compelling confirmations of an adoption connection: one that made me smile was a fortune (picture in the book) from the fortune cookie Elliott opened at the Chinese restaurant where he told Angie that I had signed us up for adoption preview night. The fortune read
“You will win success in whatever calling you adopt.”
There were other events along the way that told the Andersons that they were on the right path. Eventually, the twin boys whom they adopted were even born on the Anderson’s wedding anniversary - June 17th!
You can read some sample chapters at the Answers in Abundance website.
The Anderson kids are now 8, 8, 7, and 6, yet somehow, daddy Elliott Anderson finds the time to be a writer as well as serve as Senior Pastor of Elgin Evangelical Free Church in Elgin, Illinois.
Elliott Anderson has donated one copy of his book to an adoptive family, helping us to Celebrate Adoption at Mom Most Traveled!

After I was baptized….I got this desire…push to go back to a site I used to frequent with a friend. I did meet that friend again and now we are married. We were friends for a long time and it’s really something that still puzzles me to this day of that push to go back.

I met my husband on a cruise. We met up five times before he asked me to marry him. After the trip were he asked me, I came back to work to find out that the company had been sold and that I would be losing my job. Sure made it a lot easier to move across country.

There were so many! The most recent (going with the topic of your blog) - when my 3 y.o. daughter touched my belly and said “Mommy - I wish you had a baby in there”, I was in tears, not because I WAS pregnant but because my husband and I have been trying for almost 2 years but to no avail - so with that, we made the decision to go through the motions of infertility specialists and move forward. With the miracles of science and our continuous prayers - I’m sure we’ll get there!

When my husband and I were looking to buy a house I seen a listing for a piece of land which at the time I didn’t know we would have to drive by this property listing to see the house we were interested in. As we drove by the property I yelled at my husband to stop the car and I ran over to the property while he found somewhere to park the car. As I stood in the middle of the property it was like a make believe house just came down around me and I knew we had to have this property. It took almost 6 months to figure out a way to buy this property but we managed it. I never went to look at another house that day.

Well, it was actually a wake up call. I was a very reckless teenager, I was getting into horrible things, and one day I was driving home from school, on my way to meet a guy who was just terrible for me., and a dog ran out and I swerved and hit a ditch and the car flipped 4 times. But I was ok. I just knew. It was a sign that I had to change.

I needed another vehicle and I had no idea how to buy/haggle for a car. The neighbor came over one day and asked if I would like to buy his Blazer. I knew it was a good car and the only reason he could not keep it was it did not have enough seat belts for all his kids. It was just what I needed when I needed it.

I knew when I was ready to get married when my now husband came to see me at work on one of our special days even though we had just had a fight - somehow something clicked and I knew he was the one. Thanks for the chance!

We moved from Idaho to Tennessee to help my father with his failing business. We were driving to my step mom’s funeral when my husbands old boss called asking him to come back. We hated Tennessee so we took it as a sign that we were there when we were needed and that we could go home.

My biggest fear was to say my wedding vows in front of everyone in church. When that time came I was as cool as a cucumber and did a great job. My husband is the best since that time on…. I guess there was a reason that I stayed calm.
