I have worn glasses since I was 8 years old. I can’t see ANYTHING without corrective lenses. When I wake up in the morning I pat my hand around the night stand to locate my glasses by touch. If I didn’t have access to corrective lenses, I wouldn’t be able to live the lifestyle that I now have. I wouldn’t be able to read, or write, or drive, and I would probably get lost walking a lot.
Seeing better allows me to LIVE better.
Thankfully my school and my family noticed my need and provided me with glasses, and I’ve worn them daily since the age of 8.
Now that I’m grown, I know how tricky vision care can be, and that it often takes a back seat to other needs, when money is an issue.
Globally, there is a vision care crisis. Many people in the U.S. and around the world do not have the means to get glasses for themselves and their children. This can mean struggles in school, and failures on the job.
I recently learned about a non-profit group called OneSight that raises advocacy and funds to help provide eye exams and glasses to people in need in the U.S. and around the world!
In honor of World Sight Day, October 13th, OneSight is having a Thunderclap campaign to provide eye exams and glasses to people in need. $10 helps provide a pair of glasses to a person in need and $30 helps provide a free eye exam and glasses to a person in need. Donate here!

OneSight is an independent nonprofit leading the global movement to help the world see.
Our promise is simple: we will not stop until the world can see.
Through both immediate and long-term solutions, we provide access to quality vision care and glasses to underserved communities worldwide.
Together with volunteers and partners, we provide same-day access to vision care and establish permanent clinics staffed by local, capable partners to serve each community’s distinct needs.
Bringing together global expertise—top quality eyeglasses, doctors, specialists, training and materials for clinics—is our unique strength.
Since 1988, OneSight charitable vision clinics have helped 9 million people in 41 countries see clearly. OneSight sustainable vision centers now provide permanent access to affordable vision care to over 3 million people.
